Just wondering how other admins are handling installation of 3rd party
application.
We currently disallow installation of 3rd party applications using IT policy.
This has caused various complaints and request from our user base.
How do you deal with third party applications?

potentially be sending out corporate information (e.g. facebook 1.6) we have
stuck to disallowing application unless they have been reviewed and approved.

Hmm, couldn't you create multiple policies and simply drop people into
the applicable profile if they are in the group that is on the 'Allow'
list?

and the workers that are out in the field and need access to Google Maps, etc.
So you probably can start their just to satisfy the users that are inquiring.
Setup a special group and see how that works out. Anytime
I review apps and if they are OK, scan them into bes, and set them as optional.
By default all apps are disallow.
If an app doesn't have an offline installer...too bad. So far a few companies
are helpful in providing offline install files.
