yes, it been a typo (the ARTISTSORDER thing) and yes, 1974 - ABBA - waterloo was used to simplify it's really: year: 1974 artist: abba albumartist: abba artistsort: abba (removed for after adding sc didn't show up abba in the artist library anymore) album: waterloo so the suggestion is to delete

The compilation settings may also play into the behavior you're seeing. Under Settings Music library, you probably want: - Group compilation albums together - List albums by band If you don't have these settings, try them and see if it makes any difference before making any tag changes.

Huh, well I stopped and restarted the server from the Control Panel and it instantly indicated an update was available, so it must have downloaded it and cached it but did not inform that it did. Now at Version: 7.4 - r27885 @ Wed Jul 29 04:02:19 PDT 2009 as expected. -- Mark Lanctot

- List albums by band This is irrelevant. It has nothing to do with what gets listed; it onlt defines the display format. eg. album by artist becomes album by band. Where artist or band is replaced with Album Artist if there is one set for the album.

Compilations are recognized in one of two ways: Either SC sees that there are different artists on different tracks in the same album, or by using the COMPILATION tag. The COMPILATION=1 tag shouldn't be necessary on compilations, though; it's mostly useful for non-compilations that have different

well, thanks - I tried it all and it got worse (fourtunately I only tried it with some files to see, if they behave in another way than the others). First of all: They didn't and it didn't solve the problem, so I still don't see any changes choosing the artists, year...-order. What I tried:
