Yes, I just pressed 'enter' all the way through. I also received error messages relating to the 'make' command. The whole set-up seems a little tempramental. I've just updated Quicktime, and it's gone off again. I suspect a bit of time and some cautious restarts will get it going again. Rob.

Following on from my post above, I ran the sudo cpan Storable command, restarted the Mac, and Slimserver still didn't work. Then I installed Slimserver 6.5.2 (without manually wiping all the old Slimserver files), restarted the Mac and still no joy. Today, I switched everything off, and

robw - when you ran the cpan command, did you just press enter all the way through it? It got to a point on my system where it was asking for the location of the make command and some unzip program and I had no clue...so I hit enter. It then gave me some error at the end so I'm not sure it did

I have the same problem. Since upgrading to OSX 10.4.9, Slimserver will not work. I cannot even access it by looking for http://localhost:9000/ in Safari any more (Safari can't open the page http://localhost:9000/; because it could not connect to the server localhost.). The firewall is

My mistake - OSX has a different function assigned to -p compared to Linux. I don't have OSX but I believe the following command may work on OSX and list off all ports which have a listening process - not enough details but it may prove that there is a user of 9000. lsof -i -- bpa

Port 9000 is in use by another app/process. Find out using netstat which app/process is using port 9000. Stop that process and then see if SS starts. Alternative is to change httpport SS uses from 9000 to say 9001. Possible methods include. * change port SS uses using the httpport option on

Sometime netstat doesn't return all the processes unless you are logged in as root. Also I think you specify port that are listening. try netstat -nap | grep 9000 -- bpa bpa's Profile:

I think the only issue is the bug where the version of the Storable binary differs from the Perl module, and I think this is an Apple bug. It can be fixed by doing 'sudo cpan Storable'. If you're having other issues, please post a log. -- andyg
