Today on April 28 I watched for the first time Great Horned Owl on Eglinton
Flats. I have been watching birds in this park since 2002.
Eyes were closed, even when male Red-winged blackbird attacked back of the owl.

At 12:20 this afternoon, a pair of Sandhill Cranes were observed
flying south west towards the Toronto Islands, viewed from the Tommy
Thompson Park Bird Research Station.
TTP is at the base of Leslie St. and Commissioners St. and is open to
the public on weekends.

Good afternoon all,
It's been a slow few days here in the park, with the dominant northerly
winds and cool temperatures. The good news is that the trees are still
not fully leafed out in the park, especially in the southern end. The not
so good news is that migration has been pretty slow.

At 1:20 p.m. I observed two Willets flying east to west past my house about 100
metres out over the lake. I watched them land on shore near the base of
Thickson Point just to the west of Thickson Road South.

Chris Risley, Karl Konze and I just had a Common Raven at 12:30 flying around
and calling along the road (Crystal Beach Boulevard) in front of my house just
south of Thickson's Woods. It doesn't appear to be going very far.

Oshawa Second Marsh Little Gull viewing weekend. 40+ people came by and most
were entertained by Little Gull courtship flights
43 Little Gulls and 1500 Bonaparte's Gulls were in the marsh this morning.
The gulls came in early and thick with 1000 Bonnies and 30 little gulls in the
marsh by 7am
The yellow throated warbler turned into 2 yellow throated warblers today.
Blake Mann noticed 2 warblers at 17372 Lakeshore this morning.
Also there is a report of whippoorwills calling near Bennett and Lakeshore.
