While doing the Hamilton fall count, I had the pleasure of counting many good
birds today (Nov. 4th), amongst them...
3 Harlequin Ducks ( 1 beautiful male & 2 female types) feeding with Am.
Goldeneyes & Red-breasted Mergansers at Arkendo Rd south of Lakeshore & West of
Winston Churchill { in O
Hi Ontbrids,
At 4 PM I took over 1 hundred photos. The bird is associated with Canada Goose.
You can find her on the water or on grass. There were 5 others birders to take
pictures and see the bird.
Directions: South of Lakeshore Blvd., West od Dixie Rd, Mississauga.

Black Vulture
A slight correction to my prior post for the sighting at Presqu'ile Park:
The Black-throated Blue Warbler was viewed at 11:30am according to our time
change-adjusted photo records, not the 1pm reported earlier.

At 1pm today, an adult male Black-throated Blue Warbler was seen hanging around
the feeders 20m east of the lighthouse parking lot. It was in the brush on both
sides of the path, and responsive to calls. It was in the company of the
regular feeder birds and a small group of 1st year yellow-rumps

Black Vulture
The Eurasian wigeon was present this morning on the lake near the gazebo at
Thickson's Point. A saw-whet Owl was near the green map sign, in a spruce tree,
and a Barred Owl was by Corbett Creek. Other birds in the area included
American Pipit, a Yellow-rumped Warbler, Common Redpolls, about 20 E

Ontbirders,
While watching hawk migration from my yard this afternoon, I had a dark [brown]
morph Gyrfalcon pass over my place, circling low before soaring to the west,
following the Thames River valley. Extremely darkly coloured, with only the
silvery remiges providing any contrast from below
All Birders,
A solitary Tufted Titmouse at our feeder at 3pm today. Came back several times
for sunflower seed amidst Pine Siskens, Purple Finches, etc.

There has been a noticeable movement of finches in the past week in Haliburton.
All the following were observed along the Drag River, just E of the village of
Haliburton:
Pine Grosbeak - 1 individual observed and at least 1 heard calling overhead
Evening Grosbeak - 1 female observe
While doing the fall count Rob Dobos and I found a female Western Tanager in
the Westdale Ravine, in west Hamilton.
Directions:
At the intersection of dalewood and oak knoll drive in west hamilton. Parking
lot for the RBG childrens garden is located here. Its in thr trees along the
backyard of
At around 11:30 this morning there was a Western Grebe on the St. Lawrence
River just off the Long Sault Parkway. Seen looking south off the tip of
Hoople Island.
Also of interest were 5 Bohemian Waxwings within a larger group of Cedars
on Macdonnell Island.
The Long Sault Parkway is about 10 mi
Goose still present swimming with Canada Geese at 11:25 am..also a Juv.
Black-crowned Night Heron seen along the shore by the fallen tree in the
water..Park in last lot - swimming with Canada's in channel. Lakefront
Promenade is south of Lakeshore Blvd. West of Dixie Rd. In Missisauga

First time in over 15 years we have Evening Grosbeaks, three at the moment,
at our sunflower feeder. Centre Road, Mulmur Township, 2km north of County
Rd 21. 5 minutes east of Honeywood. 5 minutes south of Dunedin...Bryce

At 8:30 this morning I found a lone juvenile Pine Grosbeak at Fingal Wildlife
Management Area, feasting on highbush cranberries. I headed in with the faint
hope of finding an Evening Grosbeak and found this northern beauty!

Lots of activity Friday through today up here in the near north. A light
snowfall yesterday brought many birds to the property.
Highlights:
Evening Grosbeaks, Pine Siskins and WW Crossbils everyday in small numbers
Pine Grosbeak (2 on Sunday)
Common Loons (24 and 6 Friday and Saturday respectiv
Erika Hentsch and I just saw a chocolate brown Gyrfalcon flying north over the
water from Hutches restaurant at Van Wagners Beach.

from the QEW in east Hamilton and proceed north to the North Service
The bird is there this morning. Found it at the point feeding with A. Wigeons
and others. Directions as per Glenn Coady, who was also here this morning.
I would like to thank all the amazing birders who report here. Thanks to
Ontbirds this was number 550 on my North American Big Year.

Yesterday I saw a small flock of White winged crossbills in the pines at
the last parking lot at Con Samuel Smith park, they flow into a leafless tree
for a quick photo op.

Bohemian Waxwing in the parking lot trees - now at 7:45
Creemore is West of Airport road on #9 in Clearview Twshp. The rec centre is
on Collingwood street on the west side of town.

Lots of bird activity along the Ottawa River yesterday, November 3rd. During a
hour period, 9:00-10:00am a group of us birding at Dick Bell Park recorded 14
Red-throated Loon, 6 Common Loon, 60+ Long-tailed Duck, 4 Golden Eagle, and 1
Peregrine Falcon. All the birds were migrating s
