The Townsend's Solitaire was seen by a group of birders this morning around
9:45 a.m. near 8712 Langstaff Road mostly on the east side.
Directions from Barb Charlton: Exit Newtonville Road from HWY 401 and go north
to where it ends at Ganaraska/Kirby Road. Turn right (east) and then
Seen by several birders at 11:00 opposite #8666. He moves around, often at tree
top, and sometimes gives repeated call notes. Several Evening Grosbeaks in the

A stunning male HARLEQUIN DUCK was brought to my attention this afternoon.
It was swimming close to shore at Courtright (just a little south of county
road 80 or Courtright Line).
It is probably the same one that I saw around Christmas time north of
Mooretown from a private residence,
Returning from viewing the Solitaire at Kendall at 2pm, we saw and photographed
a Red-shouldered Hawk active near some feeders in the area of Carscadden Road
and Ganaraska Road (Kirby Side Rd.) which is about 2 km east of the #115

There was a Snowy Owl sitting on a power pole on Hwy 8 near St. Columban at 4
PM today.The closest intersection is Road 182 and Hwy 8.St. Columban is

Today at 3 pm a 2nd winter Glaucous Gull was seen on the western breakwall
in Whitby harbour and a Great Blue Heron was seen on the mudflats east of
the bridge over Pringle creek on Brock street S in Whitby.

Hey Birders,
Alvan Buckley and I decided to bird a different area than normal today,
travelling the Lake Huron shoreline from Kettle Point north to roughly Goderich
and back to Waterloo. Our best bird by far was an immaculate adult male King
Eider we found at the mouth of the Maitland
As has been abundantly documented, the Townsend's Solitaire was seen by many
today. The best place to look for the bird today (and where a number of us
observed it) was from where the driveway of house #8671 meets Langstaff Road.
The bird seems to like perching in the top of some of the trees
Today Ian Cannell, Jay Peterson and I went up to Ravenshoe Rd / Yonge St. in
Queensville and we were very lucky to find some Snowy Owls.
Along Ravenshoe Rd (east of Leslie St.) we found an amazing 8 Snow y Owls and a
9th one along Yonge St. We were only able to travel abut half way along Yonge
Today, Celeste Morien, Betsy , and I went out on a quest for few birds. We
started at Port Weller, where we walked all the way to the end of the east
pier, then a little bit to the east, and had a nice views of the beautiful
