With the continued strong westerly winds, my son William and I decided to look
for Sabines Gull at Fort Erie as a few had been observed a couple days before.
We checked sites between Mather Park and the Catherine Street parking lot with
mostly little luck. We did had 4 Little Gulls in total (all

I shorebirded the Comber flooded fields tonight after dinner and noted one
Juvenile Hudsonian Godwit. Other birds seen were Dunlin, Killdeer, Yellowlegs,
Golden Plovers and Black bellied Plovers. This field is about 1km west of the
intersection of Comber Side Road and Lakeshore Road
Boreal specialties and finches continued to be reported as cited in last

SABINE'S GULL
BLACK-LEG.
As usual, Presqu'ile Provincial Park has rewarded some birders who have
come visiting this week with a few surprises and with a healthy variety
of more common birds. The book entitled/For the Birds: Recollections
and Rambles/, which has been out of print, is now available in pdf
format for $20
Today because it was such a beautiful day I again birded Hanlan’s Point this
morning and again I was lucky enough to find a Nelson’s Sparrow.
Other birds of note down there were 13 Canvasback, 5 N. Harriers, 45
Sharp-shinned Hawks, 13 A. Kestrels, 5 Merlins, 1 Peregrine Falcon, Hermit
Thrushes,
Earlier this morning, while birding Marie Curtis Park with Garth Riley, I found
a Nelson's Sparrow at the park's Arsenal Lands (the large overgrown field in
the centre of the park). Both of us had very good looks at the bird.
It was located in the phragmites and bulrushes along the northeast sid
