There are an impressive number of gulls loafing on Lake Simcoe, just offshore
from the landfill and water treatment plant. Likely 1500+ birds. Many
Glaucous of all ages (30+) among 1000+ Herrings, 3 Iceland, a first year
Thayer’s, at least 200 Great Black-backed Gulls, and an adult Lesser
Birding is present and being seen now.

With the OFO gull weekend approaching, I thought I would post this. This
evening, between 4:00 and 5:00pm, I had 10 Little Gulls among 5000+ Bonies at
the flyby in Niagara-on-the-Lake. 9 appeared to be adults, and one was a 2nd
year bird. I missed an enormous flock of 500+ birds
Just found a single, basic plumage AmAv at the Colborne Ponds. Bird is
presently on the far E shore behind some Mallards and Canada Geese.
Colborne Ponds are on Hwy 35, just N of Hwy 7 in Lindsay, Ont.

Yesterday, Mac and Carolyn Ellis alerted me to a bird in town they thought
might have been a Catbird. I checked it out today, and sure enough, there was
one feeding on crab apples beside the Bank of Montreal in downtown Haliburton.
There are also 20 Pine Grosbeaks feeding there presently.

This evening, a group of us had 7 Little Gulls among 1400 Bonaparte's on the
flyby at Niagara on the Lake.
We viewed adjacent to the Sailing Club.

Hey,
There is a single White-rump working the mudflats at the boat launch on the S
side of the Hwy. Possibly a continuing bird. The Mockingbird is also still
presentover 3 weeks now.
The Boshkung Narrows are on Hwy 118, W of Carnarvonfirst bridge. Carnarvon
is on Hwy 35 N of
There have been some good birds moving through the Haliburton area lately.
This morning around 10:00am, I found a mixed flock of shorebirds on mudflats on
the east side of Horseshoe Lake. The flock contained 4 Pectoral Sandpipers,
8 Dunlin, 6 Greater Yellowlegs, and a single White-rumped
Just found a classic male Brewster's Warbler singing a Blue-wing song.
Hwy 121 S of Minden. Just before the large hydro corridorabout 75N of
Scott sign.

east of Norland. Also present are 13 Trumpeter Swans.

Haliburton, ON

Despite being a tiny landfill in a small village, today the Haliburton dump
produced a nice diversity of gulls.
Glaucous Gull - 1
Iceland Gull - up to 6, including what I think is a very dark kumlieni.
Herring Gull - including several "Northern" juvies.
Ring-billed Gull - 1 adult
Lesser
There was a single female Black Scoter present on Little Boshkung Lake near
noon today. I alerted Brian Pfrimmer, who also saw the bird. We could not
find it again on our return trip from Bracebridge, but it could easily still be
in the area.
Little Boshkung Lake is located a few kilometres
Brian Pfrimmer and I visited the Bracebridge Sewage Lagoons this afternoon for
a few hours. In addition to the previously reported American Avocet and Brant,
we also had a single American Golden Plover. It flew in and landed near us,
allowing us to scope it briefly before it flew off to the

Currently watching a Cattle Egret at the Haliburton Dump.
Landfill is located on Industrial Park Rd, off of Cty Rd 21, just outside the
village of Haliburton.
