At 3:30 this afternoon I found a female Smew on the St. Lawrence River
about 5 km west of Cornwall. I watched it for about 15 minutes
feeding within about 50 m of shore and managed a few terrible
digiscoped photos. The bird was loosely associating with a small
group of Common Mergansers and
This afternoon there was an adult male Eurasian Wigeon off the Long
Sault Parkway in eastern Ontario. The bird was seen to the north of
the westernmost island (McLaren Island), feeding with a large group of
ducks, mostly Ring-necked, plus a handful of American Wigeon, GW Teel
and Redhead.

I checked Lake Ontario at lunch from the lift bridge in Burlington hoping
for one of the previously reported goodies, but instead found something
different, an immature Sabine's Gull, not too distant. Lots of birds moving
around out there in these winds, worth checking from anywhere.

Hello,
Sticking my neck out here a bit, but whatever. I birded the Long Point area
today, and around noon I stopped at the marina in Port Rowan, and out at the
end of the pier among the thousands of American Coots, American Wigeons and
Gadwall, was what I believe to be a male Eurasian Wigeon.
Hello,
This morning there were 2 Eared Grebes in the North East cell at Townsend
Sewage Lagoons. I first found them in the far north west corner of this
cell, but they moved around quite a bit, always staying close together.
Also, when I first arrived, while scanning the mud in the south east
Hi,
Yesterday morning at Bronte Harbour I re-found the Yellow-Throated Warbler
reported by others. It was in the location that Andrew Keaveney reported
possibly seeing the bird Dec. 28th, along the rocks on the lake side of the
pier that you can walk out on. Sorry for the late post, I've been
Red-bellied Woodpecker mixed in with a group of Downie Woodpeckers and
White-breasted nuthatches. It was seen on one of the North Shore Trails at
the Royal Botanical Gardens, upland from the shore of Cootes Paradise. Not
sure exactly, but I think I was at the corner of the Hickory(?) and Grey
