This morning there were 18 Little Gulls at Oshawa Second Marsh.
Birds were performing courtship displays over the marsh and they all left by
7:18am
With all the rain in the last 24hrs the marsh is up 8-10 inches and the area

Before the wind's speed started to climb, there were another Eastern Towhee
and two Brown Thrashers in our backyard this morning. We back-on to Dunegan
Park which is in southeast Cobourg and is accessible from D'Arcy St..

I had quite a morning at the Ottawa International Airport, despite the passing
downpours. Most of the sparrows are back on territory, including FIELD, SONG,
SAVANNAH, CHIPPING, WHITE-THROATED, and VESPER SPARROWS. A BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLER was singing in the woods near the radar station off

Today I saw a male rose-breasted grosbeak at my feeder and an indigo bunting
in my yard. Other recent notable arrivals are white-crowned sparrows, tree
swallows, house wrens and a yellow-bellied sapsucker.

The yellow throated warbler is still being seen
It is less regular than before but it has been seen each day at the
feeders on the road side of the cottage.
It is definitely eating sunflower seeds and seems to hold his own
against the other birds.

Yesterday morning a banded Piping Plover was located on the Barrier Beach in
Darlington Provincial Park. I relocated the bird this afternoon on the barrier
beach approximately 200m in from the west end of the park. Piping Plovers are
now almost annual visitors to the Darlington Provincial

Wow - what a windy day here at the Point! Point Pelee Drive was flooded
in areas as a results of the wind and waves from Lake Erie.
Needless to say, birds were hunkered down much more this morning than
usual, but that isn't to say there weren't any birds around.
White-eyed Vireo was
Late this afternoon, probably at about 3:30 pm, a single COMMON LOON descended
on Shade's Lake. The bird could be seen from the main office of the Grand River
Conservation Authority.
Other species observed recently include BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON MERGANSER, HOODED
MERGANSER, GREATER SCAUP,

didn't make it!
At about 5:00 PM the Sparrow Field was hoppin'. In addition to the common
warblers for this time of year, there was an exceptionally early BLACKPOLL
WARBLER as well as a BLUE-WINGED

Some of the highlights are listed below...
Laughing Gull - 1 adult in a field at the NW end of the island, just south of
the Anchor
The area was well covered this week and migrants are arriving in good numbers
and variety. On Amherst Island on Wednesday there were several Spotted
Sandpipers, half a dozen Greater Yellowlegs and 5 Wilson's Phalarope on the KFN
property. In the Owl Woods, a good selection of warblers;
An Eastern Kingbird blew in to our field in Houghton Township, Norfolk
County this afternoon (Thurs, Apr 28th).
We are located at the southwest edge of Norfolk County approx 14 kms east of
Port Burwell, at the corner of Fairground Road and North Road.
