Just after lunch today, decided to check out the Carden Alvar (mainly Wylie
Rd) based on positive post by Jean Iron yesterday.
First the negative... did not get the Loggerhead Shrikes ( neither at Wylie
nor Cameron Ranch) very windy, they were likely hunkered down !!!
However, did get the
Today, at 11:55, three White Pelicans flew from south to north just
off-shore on Lake Scugog at Port Perry. They were seen from the parking
lot of the Public Library.
Port Perry is north-east of Toronto directly north of Oshawa with Hwy 7A
passing through town.

Today, for the first time since Spring migration, I saw Bonaparte Gulls
(including a this year hatchling) and Caspian Terns along the shorelines
of Lake Scugog off Scugog Point.
401 east or west to Durham 57... follow north to Scugog Point Road...
proceed to lake.

Windy day in front of house at Scugog Point. many hundreds of ducks in
fairly rough water. Vast majority are Redheads with Lesser Scaup a close
second. Among the others are Mallards, Ring-necked, Bufflehead, a few
Goldeneye, American Wigeon, Canvasbacks, and a single Eurasion Wigeon
Over the past few days, a swath of open water on Lake Scugog off Scugog
Point has widened until it is now about 10 acres of open water.
It didn't take long for the geese and ducks to appear. Today there are over
3,000 Canada geese, and in fairly good numbers, Common Mergansers, Hooded
Mergansers,
