Our field trip yesterday started off slow with no sightings of our target
species, Acadian Flycatcher or Hooded Warbler, in the Happy Valley reserve.
We wondered if the weather was a factor since the trails were littered with

At 4:30 this afternoon I had a Ross’s goose foraging with Canada’s in a
seasonal pond south of Alliston Ontario.
There are two small seasonal ponds at the corner of the Adjala / Tosoronto
Townline about 4 km south of town. To reach this spot drive south from
Alliston on King street which
At 1:00 pm today there were three White-fronted Geese sitting on a small island
in the middle of the pit.
To get there, go west on Highway 89 from Alliston. At the 4th concession turn
right (north). Drive to the next intersection. Turn left (west) onto the 5th

Had 6 Greater Whte-fronted Geese and 6 Snow Geese near the Everett Gravel Pits,
west of Alliston today at noon. They are hanging out with large numbers of
Canada Geese. There are a few Cackling Geese among them.
To get there, go west on Highway 89 from Alliston. At the 4th concession turn

Four juvenile Wilson’s phalaropes were present in a flooded sod field this
evening at 6:45. Numerous other shorebirds present including 2 Short-billed
Dowitchers, Pectoral and Least Sandpipers and Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs.
Location: Going
Just had a couple long-billed dowitchers in a seasonal pond south of Alliston
at relatively close range. The pond is at the south east corner of the Adjala
/ Tecumseth townline and the 13th concession. Go south on King street from
Alliston about 4 km. This turns into the townline. Best
This certainly doesn't rival other more recent reports, but there are three
Snow Geese on the beach in the reservoir at Earl Rowe Provincial part.
Just thought I'd put it out there for local birders.
Going west on Hwy 89 out of Alliston turn right onto the 7th concession.

OFO Trip summary:
Three relatively new birders attended today's waterfront outing along the
lakeshore west of Toronto. 38 species were seen. The small group size allowed
us to linger on each species and look at details. The day began at Humber Bay
Park where we were lucky to get a good look
The Brant formerly at the Crystal Beach boat launch is now on the beach
about a kilometre west of there. It is west of the double level peer.
Best aproached from parking lot at 4155 Erie Rd. west of where it is
foraging with some mallards.

Conservation area on Saturday June 9. With the help of fine weather and low

Currently viewing a Ross’s goose along with 300 Tundra swans just down from
my house. It’s on the east side of the Adjala/ Tecumseth townline just
south of the 12th concession directly south of Alliston. Take King St
south out of Alliston. It turns into the townline. The bird is about 5 km

Somewhat surprisingly, the weather for this year’s outing was mild and
pleasant! 24 participants enjoyed a relatively balmy day on Saturday,
visiting both Humber Bay and Colonel Sam parks. Nothing particularly rare
was seen, but we had great views 41 species including golden-crowned and

Our group of 22 birders was greeted by near perfect weather and some pleasant
surprises during our tour of northern York and southern Dufferin Counties on
Saturday. Perhaps our biggest highlight was a roosting Common Nighthawk in
plain view in the Palgrave Conservation Area as we entered. The
