While enjoying what is now in excess of ~6,000 shorebirds at the Long Point
Causeway, mostly Dunlin, Ron Ridout found a young Pink-footed Goose. The goose
is about 3-400 m west of the main safe viewing location which is 100m north of
the Big Creek Bridge.

There is currently a Western Grebe exploring the southern end of Lake Bernard.
Best vantage point is likely off of Lake Bernard Park or the point at The
Northridge Inn. Red-necked Grebe and Common Loons also present.

resurfaced on the East 1/4 Line Rd. at Big Creek at - 42.729851,-80.519308.
There has been a male here every spring for 5 of the last 6 years (no sightings
in 2014).

48 participants set out on a perfect winter day spending 141.85 hours in the
Fifty eight battle-hardened participants conquered the 56th Long Point CBC on
December 17. The adventurous lot took to snow-covered roads in the wee hours of
the morning and accumulated more than 140 party-hours and covered more than 550
km (the majority on foot).

On November 1, at 0230AM, a hatch-year, female, Boreal Owl was banded at the
extreme eastern Tip of Long Point during the standard Northern Saw-whet Owl
monitoring program of the Long Point Bird Observatory(LPBO). The bird was
released and has not been relocated since. This

I found the Snowy Plover this morning on the beach in the Long Point Provincial
Park at about 0635. The bird was by yellow-marked post C about 300m east of
the park's west boundary before it flew further to the east.

The Western Tanager was re-found this morning at the Long Point Bird
Observatory's Old Cut field station by George Pond. It was hanging around
until about 1300, but is likely still in the area. It is most commonly seen in
the Old Cut woodlot property high in the pines, feasting on

The migrants were pretty busy at Long Point today. The Old Cut woodlot was
hopping with 23 Warbler species along with a good rush of Wood and Hermit
thrush, and Lincoln's Sparrows.
Four Worm-eating Warblers, that I am aware of, were at Long Point this morning.
One was found in
The Ross's Goose was about 300m east of Gore Rd. along Concession Rd. A on
March 12th with a group of about 200 Canada's - no Cacklers. Fergus Nicoll
and I enjoyed the beauty from about 1730 to 1800.

This morning in the Bird Studies Canada headquarters, in Port Rowan, there was
a bustle of activity around 0930 when well over 100 Sandhill Cranes picked up
from the surrounding fields are marshes, and circled the property. Among them
was a Great Egret! The egret was again

We have had 34 species of warbler so far and as of
Long Point Bird Observatory Update – May 1
Migration is really picking up at Long Point. Thirteen warbler species were
at the Old Cut field station today alone. A Hooded Warbler ( a second-year
male) was banded while Bay-breasted and Blackburnian warblers sang above.

An amazing day of hawk watching at Beamer this St. Patrick's day!
Around 20 observers enjoyed close to 400 raptors at Beamer Conservation Area
on March 17. Mostly Red-tailed Hawks (268) and Turkey Vultures (70).
Red-shouldered Hawks also started to really move through with 45.

With the Ivory Gull 'missing' I thought some more mediocre winter birds
may be of interest again.
A pretty intensive search of the Long Point area on Sunday produced a few
good winter birds, mostly around the Old Cut Field Station and the Long Point
