A Kentucky Warbler has been singing on South Point Trail behind the Anne
McArthur bench, although seeing it may be difficult to impossible if it
stays far back like it

I just had a Golden-winged warbler at the southeast corner of the Big Bowl.
Andrew Don and also Vivek Kumar also observed it with me. The bird is
associating with a mixed warbler flock. Numerous species today.
Col. Sam Smith Park is south of the intersection of Kipling and Lakeshore in
Etobicok
There was a mini-fallout of warblers at the Tip of Point Pelee this morning
with females of many species being the most obvious. The warblers at the Tip
included: CANADA, BLACKBURNIAN, MAGNOLIA, BLACKPOLL, and a late-ish PALM. A

Snowy owl perched on the lighthouse deck for about 3 hours around supper
time May 13 .
The Bruce Mines lighthouse is located just off hwy 17 on Bruce Bay Rd, 45
minutes east of Sault. Ste Marie. The location is well signed. Permission

I have spent since last Friday when the first weather front arrived birding
Lanark County and so far I have seen 22 warbler species and 4 vireos species.
There is a flood of birds at many locations: Some of the list is:
Blackburnian
Chestnut Sided
Black-throated Green
Tennessee
Magnolia
Bay-b
I spotted a Golden Winged Warbler while walking through our property. A
Rufous Sided Towhee, a Nashville Warbler and many Baltimore Orioles were
also sighted.
Directions:
Take Bruce Road 19 north from Hwy 4 Walkerton to 14th Concession (7th side
road) Turn left (West) and our property is just after

Adult alternate Eared Grebe on the lake; 2nd-year Franklin's and adult
alternate Laughing (same bird as yesterday) standing on the beach at
Wheatley Harbour. The Franklin's has since taken flight, but could still be
in the area (check Hillman's or surrounding fields).
Kevin Seymour, Greg Stuart and I just saw the Laughing Gull at Wheatley Harbour
Essex side. It was on the docks and we watched it for a few minutes before it
flew off further north into the harbour. We didn't see where it ended up.
Directions: foot of Erie street in Wheatley.

We haven't received any particularly notable reports since this morning,
but there is no doubt more out there to see as the rain slows down. Most
trails still have quite a bit of activity.
There is now a tiny amount of water in the sprinkler cells at the Blenheim
Sewage La
Bobolinks displaying mating behaviours in farm fields and blue heron has
moved to marshy areas on water front. Blue birds, many swallows. Turkey
vultures were feeding at corner. Also many flickers in ditches.
Farm fields with many bobolink are north on 638 from highway 17 at Bruce
Mines, turn
Ontbirders,Brandon Holden and I just had a Mississippi Kite that Brandon spotted flying over our cottage near Wheatley Provincial Park. The bird was flying along the lake shore heading west toward Pelee. Birders at Pelee should watch for this bird as it will likely end up in the park. Cheers,Ba
At approximately 1:00 p.m. this afternoon as I was walking south on the
Woodland Nature Trail between bridges B and A I saw a Mississippi Kite flying
south just over the tree tops. I saw it 3 or 4 times in between the trees, as
did another couple who were on the same trail.

I had a calling Dickcissel fly-over the Beachville Lime Ponds this morning,
heading east, only the 2nd spring record for the county. The birding in and
around the ponds was excellent, as it has been for several days now, with
several hundred migrants [mostly warblers] found along th

Today I only birded Hanlan’s Point and that seemed to be enough as with 20
species of Warblers I found I spotted a nice male Yellow-throated Warbler in
the wooded area between the tennis courts and the sand dunes.
This bird makes it 300 species on the unofficial Toronto Islands Check List.

Short-billed Dowitchers, some Ruddy Turnstones, Black-bellied Plovers and 100s
of Ruddy Turnstones. Franklin's Gull is still here.

The birding today, May 14th was excellent in the Ottawa area with a large
number of migrant warblers and other land birds in various woodlots around the
city. At the Britannia Conservation Area-Mud Lake there were 20 species of
warblers including 1 Orange-crowned Warbler, 10+ Nor

Both individuals are still present at the shorebird cell of Hillman Marsh near
Leamington.
Hillman marsh is east of Leamington: take Oak St east out of Leamington. It
turns into Mersea rd 2, which is the road that the entrance of Hillman Marsh is
on.

I came across an odd bird today at Prince Edward Point National Wildlife
Area. It had the white lower eye crescent and thin dark throat stripe of a
dickcissel but unlike a dickcissel its head was gray without any hint of
yellow and it appears to have a wingbar. Photos and a discussion of the

This bears striking similarity with Audubon's drawing of Townsend's Bunting
Spiza townsendi, a bird which identity has never been fully elucidated, but
possibly a hybrid between a Dickcissel and a Blue Grosbeak:

Just an update for those who need one for these GTA birds: the male Cerulean
Warbler was still singing and showing well just east of the lakeshore
footbridge at Paletta Park in Burlington this morning (10:00-11:00) and the
Yellow-breasted Chat (though not singing at all) was still present at the
30 matches
