Dark as in off? Or just dim? Or is it the kernel panic screen with the
warning in all the different languages?

In any case, if it can’t be restarted *immediately*, there is no
software-based explanation I can think of. It’s also worth noting that
Quicksilver doesn’t make any modifications to your system, or inject
itself into running programs, or anything else that would contribute to
system instability.

If it continues to happen, I’d take it back to the store and ask “If
software is causing the problem, why can’t I restart immediately?”

One Quicksilver-related long-shot: The Extra Scripts plug-in includes
scripts for “Shut Down” and “Force Shut Down”. If you have that
installed, make sure you don’t have any triggers set up that would
allow you to run such commands on accident. I think you’d see the
normal orderly shut down process if that were the case, though.

Re: How do I downgrade the clipboard plugin?

Is 1.4.2 not the official latest version? QS hasn't downloaded it for me.
Nor does it find it if I delete 1.4.1 and re-activate it.

Re: How do I downgrade the clipboard plugin?

2014-10-14 Thread Jon Stovell
Some plugins have different versions for different builds of Quicksilver.
The built-in plugin management system ensures that you always get the right
one for you. That's why Patrick said to use it instead of manually
downloading them from the web page.

Correct. 1.4.2 only works with Quicksilver 1.2.0.

The 1.4.1 that’s out there now should be a different (working) version
of the plug-in; different from the 1.4.1 you may have downloaded
previously.

isn't that what version numbers are for? :-)

Quicksilver uses build numbers to distinguish between binaries. There was a
problem with the newer 1.4.2 on older versions of Quicksilver so we had to
quickly downgrade to the 1.4.1 version, but in a way that would ensure existing
users would be prompted to re-download this if they had the buggy 1.4.2

If you think there could be a better way of handling plugin versions, feel free
to create a pull request: https://github.com/quicksilver/quicksilver

Re: Quicksilver causing imac shutdown?

2014-10-14 Thread Will Koeppen
Thanks Rob. The computer screen goes dark, the harddrive spins down, it's
unresponsive, and it appears to be completely off. Except I can't restart
immediately. To my untrained eyes, it's almost like it's hitting a
temperature sensor limit that's triggering a shutdown or something. Not
sure. I don't have the Extra Scripts plug-in installed; I run a pretty
bare-bones Quicksilver.

I don't get how it could possibly be a software issue either. That's just
what they told me at the Apple store. Unfortunately the guy who gave me my
computer back wasn't the tech who worked on it either, so I wasn't able to
really ask any questions from someone knowledgeable.

It's a weird issue, I'm kind of thinking it might be just something they
couldn't (or didn't want to) diagnose, so they blamed an application
launcher.

Migrating importing/exporting Shortcuts/Triggers

2014-10-14 Thread Rafe Peters
Is there any way to possibly export or import an entire set of Triggers
which refer to files located in same path but on a different computer boot
volume - for example /Applications/Safari ?

My goal is to not have to recreate ALL my many triggers from scratch on a
different System...

Help most appreciated.
