I've now got both ipv4 and ipv6 firewalls working satisfactorily, however, I'm having difficulty filtering icmpv6 packets, and wasted a lot of time yesterday in the attempt. As ipv6 is far more dependant upon icmp than ipv4 ever was, I'm finding it complicated to filter said packets in a secure

OK, I've had another look at iptables. The reason the counters weren't working in iptables when mail was sent was because, for whatever reason, msmtp decided to use an ipv6 address intead of ipv4. Running msmtp --debug proved this. I knew that building a dual stack was going to cause issues.
