Hello everyone,
I just got a windows update wanting me to install IE7. For those of you that
use IE7 how do you like it, and how well does it work with jaws 8? I heard
that it is a little bit different from IE6, but I don't know what the
differences are. I'm not sure if I should install it
It's at least to me not a major change over except for tab browsing, but
then again many of the other features it offers don't interest me
personally. The thing is if you decide to dump it by uninstalling IE 7 your
system will automatically revert back to version 6 without any problem at
all.
hey lisa.
am also using xp home, jaws 8 and have been using i.e.7 for a couple of
months now with no problems to report.
as far as i can tell there are no major differences between 6 and 7 except
for jaws 8 announcing the rss feeds which could be useful to you.
if i was you i would go for it
Hello,
what are RSS feeds? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but I don't know what
they are.
Take care,
Lisa

Hello,
Well, I have XP and JAWS 8.0 and I had downloaded IE 7 when it first came out
and I didn't like it. I uninstalled it. It has been so long now that I can't
remember why I didn't like it, but anyway. You may like it. All I can tell you
is to download it and try it and if you don't like it then
Dave I might be wrong, but this is one of the list I need to go no mail on

Hi you were talking about ie 7, this brings a question to mind. when I'm
tabing through a page navigating, sometimes it takes me back to the
addressbar for some reason and when I do a shift tab, it takes me to the
bottom of the page I was at causing me to lose my place. Is there some way

Hello,
I'm sorry if my question sound silly, but when you are subscribed to rss in
IE7, does it updates the rss feeds and informe you when IE is closed?
Thank you,

i am running jfw 8 and have a question regarding the default.jcf file.
can anyone tell me if what i remember is correct?
i am sure i have read somewhere that if jaws isn't behaving itself then
deleting this file is a possible way of solving the problem.
thanks in advance.

Navigate to the sub menu of your particular version of JAWS and right arrow
in twice. Then hit enter on the top choice in that sub menu.

Hello All,
I have a friend who would like to use his computer to access some type of TV
recording solution such as TiVo. He is running JAWS 8.x on a Windows XP
professional
computer. Does he have to consider moving over to VISTA to accomplish
this? Is this possible with the XP OS? What will
Hi, just a guess, but I think Windows XP Media Centre would help him with
this. Trouble is, not only will he need to upgrade the OS, but he'll also
need to upgrade his JAWS licence to support pro versions of XP, such as
Media Centre. Hope that helps.

Thanks David,
I do have the mic and phones ports on the front. I tried just plugging the
extra cord into the two ports in the front as you suggested. It didn't work,
so I'll look into trying the Windows Restore next. That makes me a little
nervous. Being a bit of a novice at this, how do I
Hi:
We just purchased a Tivo unit. I installed Tivo Desktop 2.5 on my XP Pro
computer and I am able to transfer programs from the Tivo to my PC very
easily. It works great with Jaws 6.2. Once the programs are transfered
from the Tivo to the PC, you can play them using Windows Media player.

Yes Chris. On the Windows update page, you can tell it to hide updates. You
can also do it through the automatic updates feature when an update is ready
to be installed. Hope that helps.

that's good to know. I was always afraid to do something like that thinking

Simply by accessing it as any other drive, copying files back and forth ETC.
In other words I don't rely only on the backup software. Bring it up in
windows explorer and browse the drive manually.

Hi Everyone,
Marilyn's suggestion to use an external hard drive is, I think, the
smart way to go. I have two external hard drives which I use only for backups.
I use Microsoft system backup at least twice a month and I find that
it is accessible with Jaws.
It usually don't come with the XP
Lenny, microsoft also has an even more detailed set of directions for
installing the windows backup software from the xp home disc. Sure wish I
had known about it before my hard drive failed in July. As soon as a
sighted helper shows up, we'll get the xp program out and give it a whirl.
In what ways is one better than the other for backup?
