I use audacity for basics, but there are a few guys who use it quite a lot
more, and there's also a blind audacity users group, and it's free - here's
the blind-computing page for it:

I always recommend gold wave. It is low cost and quite powerful enough for
most any audio editing needs unless you are getting in to multiple track
recording.

Hi listers,
I like when JAWS announces capital letters in a slightly higher voice. At
this point the sound of upper case letters is the same as lower case ones.
Please help me turn the sound of caps lock indicator and shift characters
back on?

Hi Janet,
What version of Jaws are you running do you run Jaws from the system tray

today! LOL, hahaha hahaha hahaha, LOL

I'm transferring my Old Time
Radio collection to newly acquired blank reading cartridges.
I'd like to arrange my data such that I can fast forward, or reverse wind, and
have the shows titles read, as happens in the bookshelf feature.
How would I accomplish this?

Hi Janet,
You didn't state if you run Jaws from the system tray or not so, I guess I'm
going to have to work today! LOL LOL
If you run Jaws from the system tray, try the following;
1. Press Insert + J, for the context menu
2. Press the letter O for options, press the letter V for voices,
Hi Janet,
I sent steps to change upper case pitch for both ways you will get that

Hi list. Lately, I have been experiencing trouble with the CD/DVD drive built
into my Dell Precision workstation running XP Pro. When I insert a standard
prerecorded audio CD into the disk tray and close it, it takes a long time,
almost two minutes, before it is finally recognized and the
If it is covered on a warranty I'd have it replaced

NIAM,
You might want to try either gold wave or sound forge. Talk to me at work on
Tuesday, we'd see exactly where ya wanna go with sound editing.

Hi all!
I'm using a device that plays cassettes to transfer to audio files. It
runs on a usb port. In Windows 7, is there a way to record directly
through the cable, or will I have to use the audio jack?
Thanks,

That device, that plays cassettes, sounds interesting.
Is it a standard cassette player, as we know it? Or: Is it something more
specialized for computer use?
Many thanks.
