Re: [Blind-Computing] Echo Link Computer Microphone Question

2008-11-19 Thread Mark

Hi
For all those who are using vista and want to set up your microphone, I
finally figured out how to do it. Go to control panel, then to sounds, go to
the recording tab, select your microphone from the list, then go to
configure. This brings up the speech recognition section. One may not want
to have speech recognition turned on but all we need to find is the set up
microphone function. Then once you complete this process click finish and I
followed this with an alt F4 to leave speech recognition. I tested my
microphone and amazingly it is now working. I hope this information is a
help to folks.

Any ideas on where to go from here?

I think there's an option in the verbosity dialogue that controls whether
it'll read you the headers in an open message, so jaws key + V, and look in
that list of options for something related to reading headers, and then use

Hi All,

The friend who had accidentally deleted some folders in Outlook did a system
restore this afternoon, and as crazy as it sounds, his folders came back. I
am not a user of Outlook so I don't know how this program works, but somehow
the system restore worked for him. He runs Xp Pro, Jaws 8 9, and I think
Outlook 2003. Take care.

Hi Steve,

My mom is having the same issue. It started a week or so ago. I have a
feeling a Windows update caused some sort of conflict with AVG and XP. I
haven't had time to check further into it, but am hoping that AVG may be
aware of the problem already and is working on a download to fix the
problem.

If I get anywhere with this, or if you do, let's get it posted for anyone
else that may be having the same problem.

This same sort of problem cropped up several months back, and AVG finally
put out a fix. I had contacted them back then and they had me go in and
delete a file that seemed to help. I can't remember all the steps right now,

but I have them in my notes somewhere. I'll be looking for those notes when
I get some time here in the next few days.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] AVG

 Hi All,

I am using AVG 8 on a windows XP computer. Every time when I start up the
computer at the beginning of the day. I receive a message saying update
requires update. Does anyone else receive this message when starting
 there
computer from AVG? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes it is that easy. It will transfer all of your dictionary files and
many of your configuration files as well.

Is it actually that easy? Will that transfer all my settings from JAWS
 7

 or just the Dictionary?

The short answer is yes. Is that all you wanted my friend or would you
 like
to know how it's done? Actually look for the merge utility in the jaws
 window and follow the directions.

Is there any way that I can transfer my settings from JAWS 7 to JAWS
 10?
 I am especially hoping
this is possible for at least the JAWS Dictionary.

 Thanks,
 Donnie

2008-11-19 Thread Patricia Dunbar
I had an issue with AVG in the system's tray it said...my email scanner was
half functioning.

The help files to fix this was very clear and easy to correct.
I had to choose the default settings for AVG's configuration for Outlook
Express and then had to check the box to disabled email scanner personal
plug ins as the help files suggested to do.

Then reboot.
Now all is set correctly and I think it's working better than it has all
along,lol

I can't remember all the steps right
now,

but I have them in my notes somewhere. I'll be looking for those notes
when

I get some time here in the next few days.
Ken
