Air purifiers should use mechanical filters and electrostatic particle removal
and that's all Stay away from Ozone I looked that up for this list a couple
years ago after some people swore by there ozone generators, It's toxic
and doesn't work, and is strongly disreccommended by the EPA.
but
Consumer reports did a review of various air cleaners some time back. We
have an electronic air cleaner at the inlet for our heat-pump. We were told
that an ultraviolet light further downstream in the main duct is also
recommended but we do not have this. The electronic filters do create
So far as I've seen, on the EPA site etc. ionization is fine.
I think, and they seemed to agree, that a system with internal dust collection
is a better idea than the type that just distributes charged particles about

Or if I have time I'll go grab it and post it.
Also ozone does nothing at all to clean the air, it just
ron,
I've been looking for a consumer reports article also, but can't easilly find
it.
Where do you get them heffer filters, I have so darned much trouble withm

Tom, the heffer filters are indeed hard to find. They're made of spun,
pasturized cowbwebs which are available in limited quantities. Had I
finished my morning coffee when I wrote the first message, they'd likely be
even harder to find grin.

I can not recommend a particular brand but what I believe you are looking
for is a unit that ionizes the air. It puts out ions into the air similar
to
if not exactly the same as what happens during a storm and that is why
so far as I can find out air filteration takes real filters, and maybe
charcole or the like. There are also electrostatic filters but these little
boxes that claim to ionize your air don't move enough air to
do anything.
Above all avoid like poison anything that talks about ozone.
Ozone, even
for dust you absolutely neeed a filter with a HEPA grade filter
and a big fan. Additional electrostatic filtering would probably help too.
Max is correct ozone is poison and you do not want it around.
Why the FDA doesn't get after them is the same reason as why they don't

something first before I
start saying things about it that may be untrue.

This sounds like a very nice unit.

Hi,
On another list this same conversation is going
is that why they've forgotten about the hole in the ozone when they are
claiming that global warming is a cyclical thing?
(stay away from ozone like a poison, to the political carreer?)
:)

Hi,
A person on another list has this question and so do I. Please help.
---
I heard about the ionic breeze and other such air purifiers on TV. Does
anyone own one? How well do they work and what is the best air purifyer? i
heard about one that's supposed to make your air fresh like outdoor air
it is a case of
moderation in all things. If the unit is removing dirt and pollen then that is
a good thing for sure.
