I don't have a solution along the lines that you are looking for, but I would recommend a bottomless portafilter to give you more room. Using my bottomless portafilter, I have 5 inches of clearance on the Brewtus IV. It also allows you to use a 3 shot filter basket if you are so inclined. A

The one I just installed is similar but not quite the same, with different cutouts machined into the side. I don't think it matters. The critical issues are the thread size at the base and the safety release pressure. Yours is marked 3/8, which should be the correct size. I can't see from
