In my opinion there should not be included any function linked
necessarily to only one service provider.
Do you imagine Google hard-coded to be the only search engine to use?
The oldest principle concerned is the possibility to write any URL in
address bar, but this is extensible to search textbox
Tested that works with Icecat 31.2.0

If accounts server is not "hard-coded", then the only thing to do is to
remove Mozilla server as default one: leave blank default.
What is the server software for sync hosting?

The "automatic" updating can be useful mainly for non-repository
packages of Icecat, but not for repository ways of updating.
(examples: Trisquel, F-Droid)

I developed the gnuzilla-convert-langpacks utility for the IceCat
project but I don't know if it's still in production.
I wish to contact with the person who is performing language packs
conversions, to allow me maintain that utility and check bugs about
Android files.

"Google's accuracy" is a distortion.
Anybody can type "www.google.com" to find its accuracy, and everybody
who knows Google knows this URL.
Google's presence there is as an approved company by GNUzilla project.
Searx project should be really approved.

html version of DDG is safer for privacy; default version puts some
tracking data in your browser such as saved preferences.
I feel that Icecat has no difference in this question from its
programming code; the difference is in default search engines selecion.

Someone has asked me "How can I install Icecat in my Debian stretch?"
I was going to recommend steps from gnuzilla.gnu.org , but I don't see
Debian-style repositories there and no .deb packages to install system-wide.
