Rob, several years ago we bought one of these and it has done very well when
the weather is too bad for DISH satellite to work.

Rob,

Radio Shack and others have some very good quality compact TV antennas that
will fit the bill. They have one that looks like rabbit ears on a Vicks
cough drop for indoor use. There are out door versions also that you could
use that provide some gain also.

Subject: [BVARC] Recommendation for TV antenna?

Hello all,

I¹ve decided to NOT allow Comcast to have my TV business so I think what
I¹ll do is try a TV antenna on a short tripod out on my balcony when I want
to watch football games.

Can anyone recommend a good TV antenna that will work from Jersey Village to
where I presume all the transmitting towers are for the big three, down in
Stafford?

[BVARC] VHF simplex Local contest

2014-10-04 Thread Bill Stone via BVARC
I will be on air today between 1PM -5PM ( on and off) to give points in the VHF
simplex local contest. 146.400-146.58 and 147.420-147.570. Remember that
146.520 should not be used in the contest as is the national simplex call freq.
The power limit is 50 watts and QRP low power catagory only up to 5 watts. If
you live in a city other than Houston like Bellaire, South Side Place, Hedwig
Village ect you will be a sought after multiplier in the contest. Please help
support this local club contest sponsored by KARS and help some of our newer
Hams that may only at this time have a VHF radio to get the feel and excitement
of contest.
