Several years ago I modified a Plantronics CS50 with a BH50 1459 sticker on the
bottom.  It workedvery well except you had to be careful because the vox had to
be on.Range was good, worked to my work shop in garage.  You have to wear the
standard Plantronics head setwhich is wire less.
Contact K5AMA or Al Bayer for details on the modification.

Subject: [BVARC] How - operate wirelessly in home?

All,

I am considering setting my radio up in a part of my home in which I would not
want to routinely sit and spend time.

I’d like to be able to use a laptop or phone and control/use my radio so I can
do it from anyplace in my home (and beyond).

I am aware of Ham Radio Deluxe, but I think that just connects it to a computer
via cable and allows me to operate from that hard-wired connection.

Is there a something I can connect to and operate wirelessly from any computer
or phone?

Thanks,
Shannon

You might look at the RemoteHams software RCFORB
https://www.remotehams.com/  The software is free.  I've run a club
remote using this software for a few years. Pat Cameron also runs this
software on his remotes.  You can set the system as private so others
don't see it and you can access it over the internet, or on your local
network

Hello,

this is a very nice concept:
https://www.gigaparts.com/vero-vr-n7500-50w-dual-band-mobile-radio.html.

Of course this is not HF or even as a VHF/UHF is not particularly powerful
but as a beginner I do think this will get my feet wet.

I've just bought this as my first radio and hoping to join my first net :)

I have no idea why it is not widely adapted by everyone. Even WiFi could
be possible easily. As for controlling another radio, as Jeff Greef
mentioned, you can always use two PC method. For the device side you can
use an industrial pc or a mini PC. That way it will not require too much
space, power or ventilation. This will cost you somewhere starting from 40
to 200 depending on platform/cpu etc. Then you can use remote desktop (for
Windows, even linux if you are willing to struggle with it) or VNC (for
linux distros) or any other remote control software. You'll get audio,
video etc. everything.

Hope this helps ..

If you have 2 computers, you can connect one to the radio and use the other to
"screen share" with it. Anydesk, VNC, or similar software should allow your
comfy computer to remote control the screen of your radio computer. What modes
do you want to be able to operate remotely?
