Hi Cheryl and all,
I'm glad you like the dance, it's called Easy Progressive Contra 3
http://lists.sharedweight.net/pipermail/callers-sharedweight.net/2012-July/013022.html
I don't specify how much to move the circles or stars in A1 and A2 but just say
to move
for 8 beats. I tell them they
Hi Seth and Luke,
This discussion has inspired me to revisit grid contras.
We danced a grid contra yesterday at our monthly dance in Christchurch.
The majority of the dancers (24) were experienced but 8 were less so.
Even so it went well and all found it fun.
Here is a video of the setting
Hi All,
Two Petronella balance and spins can be done around the whole set and are
equivalent
to a double slice right (but different timing).
Anyone know if this has been used before in contra dance?
Here are two simple dances I wrote with this. I've not tried them out yet,
Hi John and Austin,
Thanks for your feedback and references.
I tried the SP version last Thursday with 12 dancers at our house.
It went over well and Line balance R/L worked fine. If I had an odd
number of couples I would have done the DP version which I like
better.
Cheers, Bill
Hi Rich and all,
In MWSD both star and slide thru are gender specific.
Dance action
In a single smooth motion, Pass Thru and Men Face Right, Women Face Left.
Ending formation
If two men, Right-Hand Mini-Wave; if two women, Left-Hand Mini-Wave; otherwise,
a Couple.
Cheers, Bill

Hi All,
In the first video link in Callers Box, one dancer is doing an interesting
addition at A2b:

Hi T Claw and all,
Silly Threesomes has been mentioned by others. The video below
is a simpler version which is particularly suited to an excess of young kids.
Instructions in video description.

Hi Ron,
Bob’s dance looks nice with all you want. Thus one has lady/raven move
surrounding the mad robin.

Hi John,
Nice researching!
I checked Burleson’s SD Encyclopaedia but it’s not mentioned.
It would be fun to use both this move and the Dutch crossing figure in new
dance.

Hi Becky, John and all,
I think it is slightly more complex.
Have a look at the young dancer here

She does not look awkward and the flow is good.
Although the dancers are moving to the person on their
right's spot, they are not turning to the right since
