As we were heading North on Meadow St. just after 6 p.m. tonight we saw a flock
of 14 turkey vultures flying ... (not soaring) out towards Wal-mart area ...

For the first time since February, we saw an EASTERN SCREECH-OWL today in our
nest box on Simsbury Drive in northeast Ithaca. Much jubilant leaping and
whooping has ensued. Still, I am trying to be guarded in my hopes that we will
have a fourth consecutive winter with an owl in the box, as the
Susie & I traveled to southern Cayuga County late this afternoon, scouting
for short-eared owls. We managed to achieve 2 out of 3 items on our
itinerary.
1. Excellent supper at the BE HAPPY Café in Union Springs,
2. Fabulous orange-red sunset at Aurora, but
3. No owls at Rafferty Rd
