At 0800, I was getting ready to head to work, when I saw one of our local
RED-TAILED HAWKS swoop through our feeder area. It perched in a large
willow nearby, getting nothing. Our yard crows were going ape; then
suddenly it got very quiet-crows gone. I thought the hawk was too, but

Hi All,
After numerous failed attempts to see SNOW BUNTINGS on Mt. Pleasant I finally
scored this morning at Cornell Lane. There were about 200 Snow Buntings
foraging very close to the road providing great looks. I did not see any
Horned Larks or Lapland Longspurs.
Also, just to the south

I was sitting in the parking lot just east of the Ithaca Mall when, at
9:23 this morning the first of nine vultures flew low overhead, from
south to north. The third bird was a Black Vulture with distinct
silvery tips to the wings and ah somewhat shorter tail. I assume that
this was the

No, I had one perched near George Road a couple of years ago. It was

We have had a Cooper's Hawk buzzing the local feeder population for a couple of
days, so when the feeder birds scattered about an hour ago, I looked out
expecting to see the Coop finally successful. What I saw was a RED TAILED HAWK

Same thing happened to me a few days ago—a couple dozen Mourning Doves were in
the yard, and they thumped against the house as the Red-tailed Hawk picked one
off. I've had a Cooper's Hawk in the past as well.

The BLACK VULTURE stayed in a large willow on the grounds of #86 Oakcrest (but best viewed from mailbox #77) for about an hour after I found it and immediately sent out the alert. During that hour I did one taxi run, returned to find Gary Kohlenberg and Jay Kevin McGowan soon joined by a guy
My suggestion for tomorrow would be to hang out in the Mall parking
lot - or the lot just to the east (behind what used to be the roller
rink) from 8:15 on. Eyes on the sky to the south. This morning the
BLAVUL came over low. Then follow it to whatever perch or hunting
grounds it chooses
