I waited in vain from 4:00 - 6:30 pm this afternoon for the Purple Sandpiper's
return. Even though the lighting was ideal for photography
the only occupants on the point were a handful (30-35) of R-bGs and a pair of

I was at Myers Point for half an hour starting at 7:55am, and Jason Huck was
there for much of that time. We had no luck with the Purple Sandpiper. The only
shorebird I saw was a KILLDEER on the island in Salmon Creek. Other highlights
were a low northbound flock of DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS
Here is what a bird biologist friend from Argentina and I saw today at
Montezuma. I put an * next to ones we were not 100% sure about.

KILLDEER, GULLS (not sure what kind), 5 BALD EAGLES, NORTHERN HARRIER,
TURKEY VULTURE, RED-TAIL HAWK
Larue's Lagoon
A few of us were at Myers Pt. around 1 PM and saw no Purple Sandpiper, either.

Daughter Becky I saw it last evening for 1/2 hr. until it was too dark to see more. Diana Whiting I had been there before noon watched it. Diana took lots of pix. When Becky got off workat 5 p.m. I took her back to Myers she was delighted to see it. Perhaps we were the last to see it.Coming
