Just finished walking around the swan pen at Stewart Park. Only new arrival I
found was a GREY CATBIRD. Other than that, it was YELLOW, YELLOW-RUMPED, and
PALM WARBLERS.

This morning, while the sun shone briefly, we were greeted by the loud
song of an E.Towhee, amongst the songs of Wh Thr Sparrow, Goldfinch,
HouseFinch and the rest of the chorus.
Now the sun's hidden and so is the Towhee!

Yesterday, I was able to get some great looks at a savannah sparrow that I
have been hearing over the past couple days and this morning I have a
Northern Oriole at my suet feeder in Brooktondale

Banded one male this morning; was our first warbler up here. Yesterday we had a
nice
low flyover by an Osprey and the local Phoebes spent the day nest building. We
have
a fairly large number of Purple Finch and large Goldfinch flock decimating the
sunflower seed.

The WHITE-EYED VIREO was still at the Edwards Preserve on Teeter Road around
9:30, singing sporadically and foraging in the brush downslope (to the left)
of the main trail leading into the preserve (take your second left after
entering from Teeter Road and the bird was around this area, but moving
I visited the Goetchius Preserve in Caroline this morning. When I arrived,
there was a GREAT EGRET perched high in a tree at the back of the open
water. On my way back through an hour or so later, it was gone. From the
road, I also spotted a BROWN THRASHER and a YELLOW WARBLER. Walking through

Hi all - from 7 am as I like to watch the news on TV, my gaze was turned to
my window. Right outside is a tube sunflower seed feeder suet cake. On the
tube feeder was a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak and there was a male
red-bellied woodpecker on the suet and at the tube came 4 Purple Finch plus

Well...that's frustrating. My message didn't come through until more than an
hour later.
Just got back to find that my message wasn't there...then, poof, it appeared.

Taking advantage of the warm weather, Larry and I went up the lake today
to verify directions to certain birding spots for the soon to be updated
Birds of Cayuga Basin Guide. After reading all of the posts, I think we
should have stayed in town and done some local birding! However, we
I just heard from a friend that Black-throated Blue Warbler was seen
in the Mundy Wildflower Garden today. I don't recall anyone posting

I stopped at the corner of Willow Crossing and Purvis Rd. just after
noon. I parked on Purvis near the little boggy areas on both sides of
the road.
Nothing new to report but it was delightful. Lots of singing going on.
Some new ones for me this year:
3 Northern Waterthrush, 2 on the south
How could I forget- the barn Swallows arrived back at the farm today.
On Cornell Lane, about 4 miles south of Dryden.

Yesterday afternoon around 5, I was yard-birding, essentially trying to chase
down the loudly calling PILEATED WOODPECKER, one of several that we have had
resident for years. He was circling his territory, which is roughly our 2 acres
plus woods beyond to the east and west. He did a great job

only a bit that I can add. First, there are now some sticks on the
ground pointing to the trail where the vireo was last seen. It appears
to be moving around a bit, so be patient and listen carefully.

Another early bird: along Station Road in West Danby, at the old
foundation on the L-P Preserve , a singing WOOD THRUSH! Quite a few

Newman Arboretum for some photography. While video-ing Red-winged Blackbirds
displaying, females calling, American Robins singing, and Northern Flicker

Gary and I went there after work. We had to wait until the storms passed. We
finally received a window of time to bird. (Better safe than killed by
binos.) The Brown Thrasher was a car bird while waiting. There was a total
