Don't remember this having been reported at or since the CBC, but there's a
killdeer in the gravel island of salmon creek by Myers - or there was until the
hunters started firing nearby. I don't see it anymore, but can hear it calling
from nearby somewhere.
Also, lots of bluebirds near the

!important; } Saw 3 Green-winged Teal, 2 American Wigeon, several Redheads and
numerous Gadwalls and Buffleheads at North Mill Pond around

At least 3, maybe 5, American Pipits foraging invisibly on the beach on the
north side of Salt Point (flushed there by me from closer to the point). Still
struggling to photograph them.

Cayugabirds-L List Info:
Had a pair of Sandhill Cranes at the Sandhill Crane Unit (Montezuma) on the
south side of Van Dyne Spoor Rd around sunset Saturday. Also had a group of
over 2 dozen Swans that appear to be Trumpeters. Photos available on Eaton
Birding Society’s facebook page. (No Short-eared Owls seen, but
I met Suan at Salt Point after his Pipit post below. He said there were 7
AMERICAN PIPITS according to his heat sensing device/screen, and that they are
very hard to see against the dull colored lake-bed rocks on the shore edge.
I later saw one on the north side near the point. Never found the

On the afternoon of 5 January Ann Mitchell & I saw a flock of about 25
BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS, males & females, on the shoulder of Fenner Rd near
NYS-34B, which is in the northwest corner of the Town of Lansing in Tompkins
County. They were not present during a couple of more recent

to various places in the Cayuga Lake Basin, mostly trying to find birds which
were previously reported and managing to overlook those which had not yet been
reported. However a species which appears to be new for the
