Last evening at a friend's home on Yaple Road, a number of us witnessed a
Common Night hawk fly over us heading east. We watched it's flight pattern
until it vanished over the horizon.

I don't know if this has been posted or not, but there is an Osprey nest on
the west side of the lake 3-4 miles south of the gas station at the
northern end. It is on the west side of the road and, actually, quite close to
the road. I was surprised seeing it. They are definitely spreading It

stopped along the road, not too far from the turn off (sorry, can't give you
feet or yards). The 2nd bird I heard was a Grasshopper Sparrow (The first
being a Savannah Sparrow). The Grasshopper Sparrow sang and sang and s
Cerulean Warblers had been heard from Renwick Park and Jetty Woods for
many years. Does anyone know if they breed there? Personally, I would think
yes, but...

Laura and I, also, had great looks at a female Hooded Merganser and 5
chicks. I don't remember ever seeing their chicks before. They were really
tiny. Hope they survive.

This evening Laura Stenzler and I went to Stewart Park. Around 8:30 P.M.
we saw 3 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS flying north from the Jetty Woods area.
We, also, saw a very vocal BLACKPOLL WARBLER near the swan pen.

Hi All,
Working late and not being outside for most of the day, I decided that
chores could wait. I stopped by the Lab of O for a walk. Along the Wilson
Trail, I came across someone who had just seen 6 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS on the SW
side of the Wilson Trail. We both tried to find them again, but

Around 2:45 P.M., I spotted an Eared Grebe from the north side of the
boathouse in Aurora. It was somewhere around 1/3rd the way out in the lake. I
first noticed 5 Horned Grebes further north and further out on the lake. As
I scanned, the Eared Grebe came into view. It was much closer to sho
Gary and I went to Syracuse this A.M. to see the Yellow-throated Warbler,
and after 1.5 hour's, we finally saw it. The bird showed up for a bit,
foraging at a very quick pace and then it moved on. We could have stood around
for another 1 and 1/2 hours, but we were rather cold by then. After
I had my first Robin in my yard yesterday on Eastern Heights Drive at
around 9:30 am.

Just wanted to give everyone a "heads-up" to watch for the above birds. I
am on a listserv with a Toronto group. There were a number of American
Avocets seen east of Toronto at Oshawa Second Marsh yesterday. Also, someone
reported an Hudsonian Gotwit at a park in Ajax which is closer to Pt.
When I arrived home after birding all day in Montezuma and north, I heard
and saw at least a dozen ROBINS in my yard. They were quite vocal.

By the time I got to Myers around 10:00 am, I saw at least 102 TV's. I
saw an additional 35+ on Freeze Road a little later. I am sure I missed many,
many more TV's traveling south. What a great day!

A Northern Screech Owl was calling close to my house for close to 5
minutes around 11:15 this evening. There was a flock of something passing over

the same time, but the flock was drowned out by the owl. It sounded like a
duck species. I live in Eastern Heights in Ithaca..

This afternoon, I was visiting some friends on Hunt Hill Road (Ellis Hollow
way). As I was leaving, I saw warbler activity. I grabbed the binos
from my car and found 2 male Black-throated Blues and two Cape May Warblers.
I sure there were more warblers passing through, but I got there too

receding there. The plus is that there are rocks and mud. I counted 33+

I stopped by George Road around 5:30 this afternoon and saw a large bird
flapping and soaring overhead. I did not have my scope with me but spent
about 5 or so minutes watching the bird soar towards me and go around in
circles. I tried to make it into a juvenile Bald Eagle, but I do
