This morning I was happy to welcome back two FOY Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and a
singing Brown Thrasher to my yard West of Mecklenberg. Still hanging around are
R.C.Kinglets and G.C.Kinglets, and a few more Purple Finches. Looks like I've
got to stock up on sunflower seeds!

As I pulled out of my garage, I spotted a Pine Warbler on my driveway right
next to my car! It foraged in the gravel for a few more seconds and then
flew up into the pines. I'm guessing it was a new arrival that was too
hungry to be concerned about my moving car right next to it! A Chipping

Incidentally, there were no disemboweled toads on the dike earlier this
morning, but at this moment I'm sitting at the breakfast table looking down
toward the pond, and I can see three Crows hopping around in the grass down
there, so I imagine they are starting the feast.

Newly arrived in my West Danby yard this morning were Gray Catbird,
Chestnut-sided Warbler,
Nashville Warbler and Ovenbird.
I usually wind up flushing the early morning ducks off my little pond before I
can get close, but this morning I got lucky with a pair of Wood Ducks, and

I'm so glad I put out the feeders. The male Hummingbird is back. The Oriole
has come to the jelly feeder repeatedly. On top of that, the House Wren just
let loose with song. Three new arrivals in one day.
I've got 5 White Crown Sparrows, but I think the White Throats and Juncos have
left.
Chipping sparrows, savannah sparrows, and barn swallows have arrived!

Hi all,
In addition to many warblers, new arrivals today included WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS at multiple locations, as well as influxes of RUBY-CROWNED
KINGLETS and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. Yesterday I found my first LINCOLN'S
SPARROWS of the fall, first in the Freese Road gardens and then on Niemi

I had my FOS White Crown Sparrow, female RB Grosbeak, and House Wren today. The
White Crowns usually arrive when the Serviceberry blooms. They're not quite
open yet, but close.
Now I need the Orioles , Catbirds, and Yellow Warblers to show up.

I got kind of a late start this morning having been caught at home listening to
the dawn chorus (!finally!). Didn’t get to the south end of the Basin until
almost 9am. Nevertheless, there was a BLUE-HEADED VIREO singing along Maple
Avenue (W. Danby) and a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET along Tupper Road j

When I walked up to get my paper this morning I heard the resident meadowlark
singing and saw the tree swallows zooming about. The swallows nest in my
