I am almost positive that I just flushed a flock of 16 Willet off the stone
beach, just north of the Ramada and the iron foot bridge, on Seneca Lake in
Geneva.
White and black bars on the wings, a white rump patch and they were vocalizing
a nasally high pitch sound as they flew over and
Willet on Eaton with 18 Dowitchers until 3:45 when they flew off to the South.
Maybe to visitors center.

Daughter Becky I saw the Willet at Larue's late Friday afternoon.
Several other birders were there looking at it but I didn't have time to
find out who they were.
We enjoyed the beauty of the 20 Caspian terns at Eaton Marsh where we
also saw 2 great egrets several common gallinule preening
Still at southern end of Larues.

The WILLET continues at Knox-Marsellus, with the cormorant off Towpath.
Godwits still present as well as lots of Baird's and White-rumped.

A Willet just came in and landed at Knox-M. visible from East Road. There is
also a Buff-breasted Sandpiper on the higher flats. Overcast skies make for
fair viewing.

For those who are not on Cayuga RBA, there has been a Willet at Myers from
about 3.00 PM onwards found by Gary K. Just now Jim Taroli sent an RBA and is
still present!

Ann and I stopped by Myer’s Point this afternoon to try and find a
Sanderling for her year list. When we arrived there was a large wader on the
point. My initial thought was a Greater Yellowlegs until it flew, the bold
black and white wing stripes confirmed it was in fact a WESTERN
I did send this post at 5:30 as I was watching the bird- don't know why it
didn't arrive until 2 hours later. Sorry about that.

It may be disheartening to think we are barely past the solstice, yet people are already talking about fall migration, but it's true. Shorebirds are already starting south, or at least dispersing after breeding. Other birds are as well, but the shorebirds are more obvious. I think it was generous

I had a very similar experience on Saturday evening, July 2, but over in
Presque Isle SP on Lake Erie -- while vacationing with my family I spotted a
WILLET with some Ring-billed Gulls on one of the swimming beaches. I'm pretty
sure mine was an adult bird, so not the same individual but part of
Found by Tim Lenz, there is a WILLET feeding near Ring-billed Gulls along
the shore of the Treman Marina, visible from the west side of the swan pen

The WILLET was still present from 8:20 to 8:30pm when I decided, due to fading light and wet optics, to pack up my scope and walk home. It was along the Cayuga Inlet shore a short distance north of the mouth of the marina, and indeed visible from the south point of the mouth of the marina, as Jay
