For 3 days we have seen a male Bobolink on SE side of Mt. Kendal !
So far no female seen.
Male does typical flight, lands on top of thistle & quietly sings his lovely
song.
Also today I spotted a FOY Green Heron flying around overhead.

A take away from Tom Gavin’s fascinating presentation in Danby this past
Tuesday is that if one can hold off on local hay cutting until after July 4,
most Bobolinks will have fledged by then. Mid-July even better.
While March was -4 F degrees off average and April –6.5, May was nearly 5

While working in the garden, I identify many different common birds by song,
without looking up. We have bluebirds, tree swallows, barn swallows, mourning
doves, red wing blackbirds, house wrens, mockingbirds, robins and many others.
Today I heard a song I didn't quite recognize at first, and
Has anyone had a sighting of Bobolinks recently? I'm looking to get a
good photo. If so please PM me the location.
Thanks

Hello Everyone,
Heard/saw my first-of-year Bobolink (just one) singing/displaying just to the
west of the pond near the Bee Lab off of Freese Road this evening about 7:30pm.
Nice to hear its jingle again.

May the 4th be with you, cause the BOBOLINKS have arrived up here. (I always
thought they sounded like R2D2 or some sort of alien transmitter radio)

While I was doing a brief nest watch of a crow nest located along the runway
approach east of the outer Lab parking lot, I heard a BOBOLINK singing as it
flew over. The weather makes it seem like the bird is early, but it really
isn't.

My wife, poor thing, is confused. Substitute BOBOLINK for B. oriole. I did
Once in a while I catch a sighting of a Bobolink in a far off field but this
morning I was treated to a male Bobolink working the grass in our back yard.
