My flock of Redpolls continues to grow. I'd guess it's up to 30 by now. Donna
called her feeders a mob scene. Mine are like that too. I've got hundreds of
birds milling around the feeders at once, so it's very hard to actually count a
specific species. I also had two male Bluebirds out on
Each day I've had 3 C Redpolls at my feeders. Today I have a flock of about
15. I still have large flocks of Juncos and Tree Sparrows. The regulars are
still coming as well. One new bird today was a Cowbird. It's a very busy day
at the feeders.

Like Bill and Shirley, we, too, had 2 redpolls at our feeder
today--feeding mostly on the ground-- with 6 junco; 2 house finch; 12
goldfinch; 2 tufted titmice; 2 nuthatches; about 6 chickadees and couple of
blue jays.

We also had the good fortune of seeing about a dozen Common Redpolls at our
feeders today. Our resident Pine Warbler has not made an appearance since

Our redpoll count just doubled from yesterday: we now have TWO. Ta Da!
About 17 siskins on niger feeders. When they left, the resident goldfinches
returned, about 18 of them. Hard to count 'em when they outnumber the
perches on the feeders.
The snow here (1 to2 inches) has made this a very
Redpolls have been audible around my place for weeks, but it took a good
snowstorm to drive them to the feeders. Had as many as 20 at a time since then.

A Christmas surprise was my first ever Redpolls in the yard today. I'm
officially no longer jealous of all you others with flocks at your feeders. Now
it's time for a few Evening Grosbeaks.
Merry Christmas
