 Hi All,

I have my Lab setup done and have started practicing.
On technical side, I have 24 hrs Lab access, so i can practice and get
 better on it.

I have not taken any professional help from any vendors. Till now all my
learning is self study and job exp. only.
Do you know which vendor will be good to provide Lab scenarios which will be
more similar to actual Lab questions.

I have 2-3 year old question papers which contain 5 Labs.
Are there total 8 scenarios in actual Lab exam ? do you have any idea on this
 ?

Although i believe i should be able to solve any scenario on that particular
 day.
But i should not leave behind any scenarios that are already present in
 market.

 Which vendor do you support?

Also we can support each other on the Lab attempt strategy so that we don't
miss any tricks which can reduce our configuration time.

Where are you getting your dhcp at sc?  If it is sc rtr then you could have it
right and just no access to CUCM

So try ping (CUCM ip) source vlan (voice #) and confirm the voice vlan has
connectivity to CUCM

Where are you getting your dhcp at sc?  If it is sc rtr then you could have it
right and just no access to CUCM

So try ping (CUCM ip) source vlan (voice #) and confirm the voice vlan has
connectivity to CUCM

You need to take your 1st attempt within 18 months of passing your written and

Hi All,

1) How long is a ccie written ( Passed ) exam valid?

2) If  you fail a lab attempt while your ccie written is valid does your ccie
written exam validity get extended?

3) Where can I check the validity of my written exam ( passed) status? I
checked the  Cisco certification website but it does not give me any details on

I have done that.

My question is there a cap at 3 years where no matter how many times I have

extended for another 12 months?

Also does anyone know an email or contact person I can ask at Cisco.

You have to take the written exam again if you don't pass the lab within 3
years of passing the written exam.

http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/policies/index.html#~Written

Candidates must make an initial attempt of the CCIE lab exam within 18
months of passing the CCIE written exam. Candidates who do not pass must
re-attempt the lab exam within 12 months of their last scored attempt
in order for their written exam to remain valid. If a candidate does not
pass the lab exam within three years of passing the written exam, he or
she must retake the written exam before being allowed to attempt the
lab exam again

Randall,

1. I am trying to get  music-on-hold to work when the caller is in queue.

Couldn't you use the Call Hold step, followed by wait time of 15s, and then
Call UnHold?

2. It also says to play the in queue prompt every 15 seconds, and if the call
is in queue over 60 seconds terminate it.
I think this means play prompt 4 times and them terminiate call or does it
mean play prompt 3 times and terminiate at 4th delay.

I read this as MoH/Prompt Playout every 15s for 60s. So, that is 4x. It is
odd though because if you follow the instructions exactly then on the final
play out you have:  Music-Please wait followed by Number not available. I
think it is better to play the Please wait prompt followed by music. In that
arrangement you don't confuse callers. BUT this is the lab, not real life so
following the language of the question I would do something like this:

Set LoopCnt=0

:Queue_Loop
if (LoopCnt  3)
true:
  GoTo Give_it_Up
false:
 Call Hold
 Wait 15s
 Call UnHold
 Play Prompt
 LoopCnt++
 GoTo Queue_Loop

:Give_it_Up
Play Prompt SorryWeAreUnprofessional-CallBack.wav

3. I do not see where I can download the WB 2 .aef scripts.  Can someone help
me with this?

Good question. I just downloaded the .zip file from ipExpert and it doesn't
have an .aef for Lab 2. It has 6,7,8,9, and 10.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] WAN QoS questions

2012-09-18 Thread Randall Crumm
Hello experts,

I have some questions on WAN QoS.

1. If not explicitly not told to TRUST, is it better to use trust or not?

2. If using FRF.12 and told do use compression, does it matter if it is on the
WAN DLCI or the policy map? Always in the policy map?

2A If told to use class-based compression then do it on the policy map.

3. SA-SB is 768KB, SA-SC is 1536KB.
When applying the 95% of CIR rule do we need to also apply to SC when 1536KB?

3A - What bandwidth threshold would we not use the 95% rule, above 768KB?

Thanks,
Randall

Earlier this year I purchased the blended learning solution from ipExpert. This
includes some bootcamps, workbook 1 and workbook2 (along with some other

I was wondering if that handbook is worth the price of entry and what benefits
it is actually provided above/beyond Workbook 2?

I am looking for consumer feedback.

Thanks,

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] new 5 Lab 2 - CUPS not syncing with CUCM database

I reset the AXL username and pw. It connects wit the credentials.

It seems like the hostname is not correct.

If you configured MTP with g729r8, don't forget to add this codec in the XCD,
since it is not the default.

Or change the MTP to g729ar8.

encapsulation dot1q 101 native
ip address 10.10.100.1 255.255.255.0

and the switch.
interface fa 1/0/1

The troubleshooting methodology has to be to eliminate various items involved
in the call.

Change region between br2 and HQ to g711- does that work?

Can you call direct to the cue pilot number from HQ/br1 or is this isolated to
call forward?

Can you call the cue pilot from br2 phones?

Remove any location cac to eliminate an ouf bandwidth flag

Does the cue have an mrgl to see the Xcoder at br2?

Is the Xcoder in right dpool?

Are you using RSVP? Is there above an overlapping codec in the mtp and Xcoder?

Hi Wayne,
I was in Ken's class tonight and I have to say I think this is awesome ! Way to

Tonight, the first night, we talked lab strategy and went over hq switch VLAN

I know from my lab experience, that this would have helped me out.I can't wait

I also like that there is bonus material from Ken.
One more cool thing, the sessions are recorded, which I like because I know I

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Last Chance to Register for IPexpert’s Online Voice
“Alchemy” Class….

CCIE Voice Candidates -

I just released a blog, and feel that's it's important for you all to
check it out. I don't want this to seem like a sales and marketing pitch
(although it somewhat is?, but hopefully you all see the value towards this as
it pertains to your CCIE Voice 3.0 prep. I can't give any details, but I would
anticipate a new Voice blueprint being announced in the very near future. If
you're studying (and hoping to pass 3.0 before 4.0 is introduced) - this post
will help with that goal.

Last Chance to Register for IPexpert’s Online Voice “Alchemy” Class….

CCIE Voice 3.o Candidates,
As most of you are aware – there are leaks that the CCIE Voice lab will be
changing soon. Although there hasn’t been an official announcement – I
anticipate that this announcement will come soon (possibly within the next week
or so). With that being said, if you’re studying for 3.0 – your window of
opportunity to pass this blueprint is shrinking!
A few weeks ago we announced a new online class entitled “IPexpert’s Online
CCIE Voice Alchemy Class“. This course was announced(and offered) due to, what
we felt, was a need in the industry. We sought out one of theindustry’s most
respected Voice Instructors – Kevin Wallace – and put the course together. As
you all know – IPexpert leads the industry in CCIE Voice Lab training – as we
have helped certify more CCIE Voice Engineers than any company – worldwide.
This course, is highly recommended by me and our team. For such a nominal cost
– it’s training that will drastically improve your chances at passing this lab
– in that limited window in which the 3.0 lab will be offered.
Here are a few facts:
Q. When does this course start?
A. Thursday, June 7, 2012, 8:00 – 10:30 PM EDT

Q. Who should attend this course?
A. This course assumes the student has already been through at least one
practice lab on their own and that they are at least familiar with the
technologies on the CCIE Voice Lab blueprint.

Q. What is the basis for the course content?
A. This live on-line boot camp walks the student through a new mock lab (that
Kevin Wallace created) over a series of eight sessions.

Q. What distinguishes this boot camp from a tradition boot camp?
A. The biggest difference (huge!) is its focus on lab strategy. There are 12
strategies outlined in what Kevin Wallace calls his “CCIE Voice
Alchemy” process, which helps the student “turn their lab day into gold.” This
boot camp demonstrates these 12 strategies while working through the new mock
lab (in a non-linear fashion).

Q. What is the goal of this bootcamp?
A. The goal is for the student to complete this boot camp with a much deeper
understanding of the technologies on the lab, and (maybe even more importantly)
have a set of strategies that they can use on lab day to make the most
effective use of their time.

Q. Who is this Kevin Wallace guy?
A. Kevin Wallace is a CCIE RS and Voice. With Cisco experience dating back to
1989 (on a Cisco AGS+ router running Cisco IOS 7.x), Kevin has been a network
design specialist for the Walt Disney World Resort, a Senior Technical
Instructor for SkillSoft, and a network manager for Eastern Kentucky
University. Kevin holds a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical
engineering (focusing on digital communications) from the University of
Kentucky, and has also authored or co-authored multiple books for Cisco Press,
including: Voice over IP First-Step,Cvoice Foundation Learning Guide, TSHOOT
Cert Kit, TSHOOT Official Certification Guide, and ROUTE Cert Kit. Kevin’s
website is1ExamAMonth.com.

I would also encourage you to review the following 3 videos (below) in which
Kevin discusses some very interesting and valuable topics.
* 12-Step Strategy Video
* Interview w/ a Proctor
* Troubleshooting (CCIE Voice) Video
Lastly (and what you all want to hear!) – For the few remaining seats, we are
offering students an incredible promotion. Class begins June 7th (TOMORROW!),

What is the best way to capture the output in the putty session or console?

In dial-peer 222, you are calling up service aa. You don't have a
service called aa.  You named your service app-b-acd-aa.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] New lab #2 - 3750 Qos

2012-02-19 Thread Randall Crumm
HI,
I have a question on Qos
1. The question wants COS 3 i n the 2nd egress queue, 3rd threshold and COS 5
in the 1st egress queue 3rd threshold.
This is done after running auto qos on the phone switchport. No question

2. COS 5  traffic sent to SA-GW(queue set 2) should be dropped if queue is 75%
full.
Can someone please explain the answer to me. The DSG is not clear to me.

Thanks,

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] New lab #2 - 3750 Qos

2012-02-19 Thread Randall Crumm
Looking at this closer.

 OB queueQueue 2T1T2T3 MAX
mls qos queue-set output 2 threshold 759090 100
mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 1 threshold 3 (I thing the last part of
this may be wrong, should be a 1)

So looking at the DSG, (see above) what is confusing, is if COS 5 is already in
T3, from the auto qos, why move it to T1. I would say keeping it in T3 is
easier (see below).

 OB queueQueue 2T1T2T3 MAX
mls qos queue-set output 2 threshold 506075 100

Any thoughts experts?

Randall

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] New lab #2 - 3750 Qos

2012-02-19 Thread Randall Crumm
Thanks George,
I was tired and put 90 90. My mistake. The DSG does have 75 100 100 100

Thanks for your answer sir.It is helpful.

This statement is inccorect n the DSG:
mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 1 threshold 3. It should be T1  That's
why it was somewhat confusing.

Randall

I don't know where you got the table that you are referencing below... But you
can never set threshold 3, it's 100 percent always:
mls qos queue-set output X threshold X T1 T2 R M

T1 and T2 are self explanatory.
Then it's R for Reserved and M for Maximum.

So to answer your question, yes you still need to move the needed CoS to T1 or
T2, and assign 75 percent to it.

Hope this helps,

Hi Randall

1. I think the solutions guide recommends that you run auto qos on an unused
interface, just to be safe.
2.  As you know, the 75% refers to the value of the [drop] threshold. Since cos
5 is associated with 3rd threshold, as such, you would configure threshold 3 to
be 75%. However, the recommended approach is to move the cos 5 to threshold 1
and then configure threshold 1 to be 75%. The theory behind this is somewhat
complex (Vik explains this in detail in the bootcamp). It goes something like
this-

Threshold 3 is kind of the percentage of buffer contributed by this queue to
the overall buffer space and threshold 4 specifies the 3rd threshold for the
queue in question.

thanks,
/Baktha

Hey guys,

I've configured everything (I suppose...) RDP, RD, MVA on SP... Everything
seems to be in order. It welcomes me, asks to dial a password, yadda yadda,
when I ask to make a call by pressing 1, I dial the numbers and when I
press # the connection drops.

Here is my config:
HQ-RTR
application
 service mva http://10.10.210.10:8080/ccmivr/pages/IVRMainpage.vxml
!
dial-peer voice 5999 pots
 service mva
 incoming called-number 5999
!
dial-peer voice 5000 voip
 destination-pattern 5...
 voice-class codec 1
 voice-class h323 1
 session target ipv4:10.10.210.11
 no vad
dial-peer voice 5001 voip
 preference 1
 destination-pattern 5...
 voice-class codec 1
 voice-class h323 1
 session target ipv4:10.10.210.10
 no vad

The remote Profile and Remote Destination Profile are correct, otherwise it
wouldn't ask me to put the PIN straight up. It would ask me first for my
number then PIN.
Any ideas?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX Script editor problem

HI,

I want to use a script editor local to my machine not the one on the UCCX box.

I am able to log into the web page for the uccs sever at 10.10.210.5.

Shouldn't I be able to download the editor from the UCCX server, 10.10.210.5
and log in with the same credentials I used as in logging in to the UXXC web
page

I can't. I get to 81% and it closes.

My issues is in my script I have a play prompt step and when I use reactive

My question is does it matter where I save the newly recorded wave file and
should the attribute be set to parameter to set it in the application

Other than that my script looks good to me.

!  ALL BE ADVISED
The new 5-lab handbooks are somewhat in beta mode I believe as I've ran into
some minor errors and such.  But the biggest issue is that I'm finding the
solution guide for Lab#5 is not available (the estimated timeline for it to
published has passed) and I'm finding out in Lab#4 there a section completly
skipped in the solution guide.  If anyone has some thoughts about making this
work - please post.

Ensure that everytime somebody leaves user [fill in name] a new voicemail in
his account that a message notification call is made out to PSTN line 2.  The
call should be sent out of the SiteA gateway as a local call, with the SiteB
gateway acting as a backup.  If the call goes out the SiteB gateway, it should
be a long distance call.  Ensure that Unity Connection cannot place a call
outbound to any other number except PSTN line 2 (+12024678124).

Setting up a subscriber's notification device is the easy part - getting Unity
Connection to dial out that number to CUCM - where / how is that controlled?

Hello,

H323 Router by default (in IOS) sets the Calling Type and Plan for outgoing
calls to PRI. - I think there is something put in IOS so that it recognizes the
US dialplan, and set the Type and Plan automatically.

How can I disable it?

Because when I set the Type and Plan in Callmanager, and send the call to h323
gateway, if the Calling Number matches the US dialplan, then the H323 gateway
overwrites the Type and Plan.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] New Lab #2 - CUE ntp

2012-01-04 Thread Randall Crumm
HI,
I am working on the new lab #2.

When configuring CUE the question asks for the primary NTP server to be
10.10.110.3. The default is lo1, 10.10.115.1

When I enter that IP address, I get an error :

I could not reach 10.10.110.3 using NTP.
If 10.10.110.3 really is an NTP server, then
there may be a firewall blocking NTP packets.
 NTP uses UDP port 123.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] New Lab #2 - CUE ntp

2012-01-04 Thread Randall Crumm
HI All,
Thanks for the replies.

I do need NTP master 9 since the question is requiring the local clock as
backup.
I was able to ping the lo0 interface for sa-rtr
so my commands I put in are:
ntp master 9
ntp server 10.10.110.1

Here is my question. If i did not configure ntp server 10.10.110.3 (as above),
then should I be manually put it in the CUE wizard config?

Thanks,
Randall

You do not need the ntp master command and it can actually cause the ntp to not
work

remove the ntp master command (by default your router automatically answers ntp
request out every interface once you do the ntp server ip command

verify that your BR2 router is synced with ntp server at 10.10.110.1 and if not
set the times as close to the same as you can and that helps speed up sync

once sync is complete, make sure you can ping both addresses, sometimes things
are shut down such as is service-engine shut down?  verify this with show ip
int br

once you can ping the cue ip and have ntp sync complete, you should not get
this error

Also, make sure that 10.10.110.3 is indeed acting as an NTP server.  If it's a

I know that I typically forget to put the static route back to the CUE module
since you can get session/console access with the service-module ip/default
gateway set, but no external traffic without the static route.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Telephony-Service vs call-manager-fallback

2011-12-30 Thread Randall Crumm
Hi,
I understand if you need to preserve features you need to configure
telephony-service. Also if you need learned DN's. If not, call-manager-fallback
works.

Can some people list some features that would require telephony-service?

Thanks,

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] 5 New labs what to watch for!!!

Guys I have been working on the new (5) labs mostly 1-3 since they have the
guide. Here is what i have found to be things to watch for and fixes,

Please note i have been working on these for over 10 days and it's the
same every time it is just the way the integration was done for the VM images
purposely or not.

1. There are some typos you will see reference to 011916745738931 but
if you try to call that number it is not available true number
is 011916745738931
2. There are some others name of routers in guide not always right when
you look for solutions so just make sure you note what router you are working
on. I think this is mainly because of copy and pasting from one lab to another
etc since some things are similar but devices are different.
3. UCCX integration;
1. rmjtapi app-user is not configured add rmjtapi add phones and
cti enable
2. make sure pwds match on CCX and CUCM for jtapi_1 and rmjtapi
3. from CCX run sync and restart engine
4. You may have to re-sync a couple of times
1. the T flag is not set so the CUCM never sees that the CCX is
integrated you have to do a manual step to get this up and running so you can
add the UCCX extension to users,
1. run this command on the CUCM Pub as stated in earleir emails  run
sql update processconfig set paramvalue=T where paramname like '%nstalled%'
2. NO need to reload it takes affect right away
1. CUC - I have had to reload the CUC server every time for MWIs and to
be able to leave message... This one I am not sure why I have no fix other than
to restart the server.
2. CUE - As noted in labs WB and Guide you will need to change licenses
depending on the lab you are working on.
3. Lab 2 CCXquestion there is a step missing in the script. a generated
prompt of zero calls ahead of you when you are the only one  in queue = you do
need the decrement step (thanks larry)
If i recall or run into any more items of interest i will post back i am in
last 5 days of prep and will be concentrating on the labs

hello, everyone.

I have several questions about the QoS:

1) As I know, the Frame Relay Fragment Size must be always calculated based on
the Interfaces Access Rate? Am I right? And when using the Auto QoS on Frame
Relay Subinteface, it will calculate the Framgent Size based on the bandwidth
command under the Subinterface, and then we have to manually correct the
Fragment Size, so that it will be based on the Access Rate and not on the
Bandwidth of an interface, am I right?

2) When configuring the CUCM RSVP CAC, we have to configure the ip
rsvp bandwidth command under the Frame Relay DLCI interface, and also
configure the RSVP MTPs on the Routers.
Each G729 call for RSVP is allocating 40 kbps, and for G711 96 kbps.
But now look, I have an issue with the ip rsvp bandwidth command:

I have configured the ip rsvp bandwidth 40 under the Frame Relay DLCI
(Subinterface), so that I have to have only 1 G729 call, and all other calls
should be rejected (Not reserved).
But my routers are still reserving more and more bandwidth for subsequent
calls. RSVP is not rejecting calls, even if I configure the ip rsvp bandwidth
10 command, the calls are still traversing and are not rejected.

I have also added the following command:

ip rsvp policy preempt

interface Serial0/3/0.1 point-to-point
 frame-relay interface-dlci 101
  ip rsvp bandwidth 40
 ip rsvp data-packet classification none
 ip rsvp resource-provider none

But still not succes, even 5 G729 calls are reserved and not rejected. I cannot
understand why is it so? The debugs of RSVP does not show anything interesing,
they are just saying that the RSVP reservation has been succesfull for each
call.
Maybe it is an IOS BUG?

All your help is truly appreciated.Voiper@RRCRUMM:Did you reset the h323 gw in cucm? Do you see an ip address towards the upper portion of the page above the name/ ip address field?

Did you bind source interface on HQ router for H323? And same interface's IP assigned on CUCM? Also did you have incoming dial-peer from CUCM? Paste your HQ config here.

@Ken Wyan kew...@gmail.com Pls check your route list rl-test config digit manipulations etc.. in rg-test (under rl-test).If you have done any digit manipulations in rg-test (under rl-test) , your RP digit-manipulations will not work

Add rg-test as Local Route Group for Device PoolIn addition to debug isdn --- debug ccapi inout , dialpeer may help to isolate issue- No digit manipulations on any of the above. I tried to keep it as simple as possible

ran above debug and nothing gets generated. @Pradeep Kumar Sharma sonu.netwo...@gmail.comVerify the registration status of your Route List.Try to reset it once.

Run the debug voice ccapi inout on H323 Gw and see if the outbound calls really hitting to the gateway on not ?- route list status unknown. Reset many times. What is your registration status?CCAPI: debug voip ccapi inout is ON (filter is OFF)

CCH323 SPI: H225 State Machine tracing is enabled (filter is OFF)- above debug show nothing happening. Call just not reaching the h323 gw@Mohd Baqari baqari.voic...@gmail.com

On you gateway, do the following:1. Debug cch323 h225 messages. Check if any h323 signaling is reaching the gateway.2. If signaling is received successfully, run the command debug voice dialpeer. Check which dial peer is matched and whats the configuration of it

3. If no h323 signaling is received, post cucm traces after making a call- above debug show nothing happening. Call just not reaching the h323 gwDo I need to run RTMT for trace? I installed it on my desktop and ran trace 'Collect Files' (attached). First time using, so I don't know if I got the right one?

2011-10-30 Thread Randall Crumm
Hi,
I am adding the AAR group in CUCM. The name is CUCM. Do I need to put anything
in the prefix digits within CUCM?

Is there a rule as to when you would add something? Why/when would you add
something?

Thanks,
Randall___
