Why oh why am I seeing broken images when I visit a site
from the machine it is being hosted onin IIS 5.0 on Win2000

In the caching section of the admin on 6.1 is a setting to cache web server
paths. Check if you have it set to on. Multi-homed sites should have it set to
off. This may be the issue. (I'm guessing here)
