I have Railo, mysql etc running on my laptop which I access using the url:
http://127.0.0.1: (using a home wireless network)
I would like to be able to access the same url on my iPad or iPhone using my
home wireless network, just wondering how you recommend setting this up?
Andrew
In most cases in typical home networks, all you need to do is configure the
firewall(s) on the computer acting as a web server.

Replace 127.0.0.1 with the network IP of your laptop.

You can't access the address 127.0.0.1 from ANY other machine. that is the
reserved LOCALHOST or home address of every networked device. You need to
configure another IP address such as something in the 192.168.nnn.nnn or
10.0.0.nnn range. Your router will tell you what IP address range you
BTW, you won't be able to use the exact same URL as what you provided.
You'll want to set a static IP (or DHCP reservation) for the web server and
use that IP for the URL.

Andrew,
127.0.0.1 is a special address also known as localhost and refers only to
the computer you are currently using, in other words it is the
computers internal address for itself. so if you use 127.0.0.1 or localhost
from any other computer , it also will just be looking at itself.
If you
You cannot use the 127 ip. That is only for the localhost (your laptop).
You have to you a 192 ip.
Access your router admin screen. It will tell you what base ip is:
ie: 192.168.0.x, 192.168.1.x... will vary depending on your router.
I think d-link uses 192.168.0.x while Linksys uses
Thanks everyone, got it working!
Andrew.

So I know it's been discussed before, so a link to the relevant past
article will suffice... But I am in need of moving my webpages to a
new server and was wondering where I can find some cheap ($20 or
under) web hosting that will allow me to host 3 or more websites with
Coldfusion (and Fusebox).
I have had good luck at Viviotech.net. I don't know that Vivio specifically
offers a Fusebox option, but they offer Adobe ColdFusion, Railo, and BSD
options. I have hosted two VPSs there since last year. They are proactively
helpful and I bet they could come up with a solution for you on a
+ infinity for Viviotech. Jordan and Mark have always run the #1
community-involved hosting business, and their support staff is second to
none.

Coolcool. I looked at their website though and it looks like they
start at 35 bucks a month. Right now, I can't afford that much (unless
anyone here has any work they can pass my way).

I've been using Gearhost for the past 6 or 7 years and they've been great.
$20-ish I believe.
