I don't have the links anymore... but do a google search. There are a few good tests you can buy that can really prepare you well for certification...

John is right. I used it last year in order to prepare myself for the CFMX certification. Very good material. I also recommend you the ben forta's book about CFMX certification.

RE: How to output last line first

2004-05-24 Thread Pascal Peters
I've done something like that for an app I wrote to convert files.

1. I flush the name of the file being processed wrapped in a div with an
id.
2. With the next file being flushed, I flush a JS block to hide the div.
3. With the last record, I flush a bit of JS to display all divs.

This shows a single line that changes all the time with the name of the
file being processed. At the end, you see the whole list.

 Subject: How to output last line first

 Has anyone tried to present the output of a process so that
 the last line is at the top of the page?

 For example, I have a process that runs through thousands of
 records, I want the user to observe the results of each
 record.In the CFLOOP I can CFFLUSH and print the results,
 but by default each new line is at the bottom of the page,
 thus creating a situation where the user will have to scroll
 to the end repeatedly.But if that last result is printed at
 the top, the first records completed will be pushed to the
 bottom of the page and the user will not need to scroll at all.

 Thanks.

Re: 'Select' statement question!

2004-05-24 Thread cf coder
I'll be more specific this time. Sorry! Ok! I am working on the search functionality. The search should allow users to find a log from the logs table and also allow users to find logs that are attached to assets.

Users can search by log/call ref no by inputting the log no in a textfield or by selecting an option from the asset drop-down.
The asset-drop down has 2 options: tested by, test period. The user can select an option and enter the value in the text field provided next to it.

Here is the description of the database schema.

The 'logs' table contains most of the information: Comments, Title, UserName etc. 'LogID' column is the primary key in the logs table.

The 'log_comments' table has the full comment. The log_comments table references the 'logID' column in the logs table.

Columns in the log_comments Table:
FullComments, LogID

The Assets are stored in the 'Assets' Table (asst_id is the primary key). log_assets table has two columns:
logID and asst_id

Here is the select statement.

select logs.firstname, logs.lastname, logs.reference, logs.location, logs_comments.fullcomments
CFIF len(form.asset) 0 and len(form.sel_select2) gt 0 , log_Assets.logID, log_Assets.asst_id /cfif
FROM logs
FULL OUTER JOIN log_comments ON log_comments.LogID = Logs.LogID
CFIF len(form.test) gt 0 and len(form.select_tested) gt 0
FULL OUTER JOIN log_Assets ON log_Assets.logID = logs.logID
/CFIF
WHERE 1 = 1

!--- If searching on logID ---
CFIF len(form.ref) gt 0
AND logs.logID = '#form.ref#'

!--- If searching on tested by, test period---
CFIF len(form.select_tested) gt 0 and len(form.test) gt 0
CFIF (form.select_tested eq 'tested by'
AND log_assets.asst_id IN (select asst_id from Assets where
	tested_by LIKE '%#form.test#%')

CFELSEIF form.select_tested eq 'test period'
AND log_assets.asst_id IN (select asst_id from Assets where
	test_period = '#form.test#')

/CFIF
/CFIF

If a user enters a logID in the form input text field (ref), the search brings back the record from the logs table and any comments from the log_comments table. It works fine.

However, if the user selects an option from the select_tested drop-down, say 'tested by', inputs the username in the 'test' input form field, the search sometimes returns duplicate log records or
in other words, the resultset sometimes contains more than one occurance of the same log record.

Let me explain this in detail.

Here is some Sample data in the logs table:
logIDFirstNameLastNameComments
L12345JoeBloggs Some comments

Sample data in the log_comments table:
logIDFullComments
L12345sample full comments blah blah blah

Sample data in the log_assets table:
LogID	asst_id
L12345	1
L12345	2
L12345	3
L12345	4

Sample data in the assets table:
asst_id		tested_by	test_period
1		testUser1	30/01/2005

I want the search to returnjust one result for the above data, but it retuns 4 records. What am I doing wrong? I know the sql is not right, but
I don't know how to properly code it. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

/cfif

If you search on assets, you were selecting the asset_id, so it is
normal you get multiple records. If you don't need info on the assets,
keep it in the subselect.
You will still have more than one record with the same LogId if the
logID is related to multiple full comments! You can't avoid that, since
you are selecting fullcomments.
You can take care of it in the output by using cfoutput
group=logId... . Don't forget ORDER BY LogID if you want to do
this.

Many thanks Pascal for that. It still returns multiple records. I used the group by tag which stops this from happenning, so I don't see multiple records of the same log. Its all good. However, I'm displaying the recordcount in the search result and it doesn't give you the correct picture of the no of records returned and the actual display.

tr
cfoutputtd class=title#searchresults.recordcount# logs found./cfoutput

cfoutput group=logID query=searchresults

Hi Vishnu,

I understand that, giving indian salaries, you can't afford the software. In
such a case, the best thing to do is to contact the author directely and
explain your situation.

In the past I've got a few similar requests from students that weren't in a
position to afford software that I've written and always tried to do
something for them. Hope it may works for you as well.

Re: Portable Datatypes, revisited

2004-05-24 Thread Rick Root
I still haven't solved my portable datatype issue, and I don't really
want to go the thinArray route if I don't have to.

I was looking at the WSDL for the Google API, and it does exactly what I
want to do.It returns a Complex Data Type named GoogleSearchElement,
which in turn contains a number of simple elements and a couple of
complex data type elements.One of these sub-elements is named
GoogleSearchArray, a complex data type that is an array containing
another complex datatype ResultElement.That's as far as I really
need to take this..

http://api.google.com/GoogleSearch.wsdl

So anyway... I want to mimic this functionality... but I can't figure
out how.

Here is my ReturnObject CFC that describes the complex data type that I
want to return... a couple of strings and an array.

cfcomponent
	CFPROPERTY NAME=ERRORCODE TYPE=STRING
	CFPROPERTY NAME=ERRORMESSAGE TYPE=STRING
	CFPROPERTY NAME=Results TYPE=array
/cfcomponent

Now, I want the Results array to be an array of ResultElement
datatypes. so here is my ResultElement CFC...

cfcomponent
	CFPROPERTY NAME=USERID type=string
	CFPROPERTY NAME=FULLNAME type=string
	CFPROPERTY NAME=TITLE type=string
	CFPROPERTY NAME=DEPT type=string
	CFPROPERTY NAME=PHONE type=string
	CFPROPERTY NAME=FAX type=string
	CFPROPERTY NAME=EMAIL type=string
/cfcomponent

So next, I write a CFC that looks like this, called directory.cfc

cfcomponent hint=Authorization Functions output=no

cffunction name=getAllUsers access=remote returntype=ReturnObject
displayname=getAllUsers hint=getAllUsers
	CFSET retVal =
CreateObject(component,components.authorization.ReturnObject)
	CFSET retVal.ERRORCODE = 0
	CFSET retVal.ERRORMESSAGE = Success!
	CFSET retVal.Results = ArrayNew(1)
	CFSET retVal[1] =
CreateObject(component,components.authorization.ResultElement)
	CFSET retVal[2] =
CreateObject(component,components.authorization.ResultElement)
	CFSET retVal[1].USERID = rick
	CFSET retVal[1].FULLNAME = Rick Root
	CFSET retVal[1].TITLE = Coder
	CFSET retVal[2].USERID = john
	CFSET retVal[2].FULLNAME = John Doe
	CFSET retVal[2].TITLE = Coder Assistant
	CFRETURN retVal
/cffunction

/cfcomponent

This works fine if I implement it via an HTTP call... as in:

http://www.ads.duke.edu/components/authorization/directory.cfc?method=getAllUsers

So finally, I write a CFM to invoke the web service via a SOAP call.

cfinvoke
webservice=http://www.ads.duke.edu/components/authorization/directory.cfc?WSDL

	method=getAllUsers
	returnvariable=retVal
CFDUMP VAR=#retVal#

And I call it:
http://www.ads.duke.edu/components/authorization/directorytest.cfm

UGLY!HORROR!YUCK!NASTY ERROR!

OT: Going from a Domain to a Workgroup.

2004-05-24 Thread Che Vilnonis
Morning all. I'm simplifying a network where I have a CF Server and a M$ SQL
Server (CF5 M$ SQL Server 2000). Currently the network is on a domain.
Soon it will be on a workgroup. Here's my question:

Three services are tied to the domain account: Cold Fusion Application
Server, MSSQLServer and SQL Server Agent. They are logged in as: DOMAIN\USER
NAME. Typically, I use Windows Authentication to connect to SQL Server.

When I switch to a workgroup, I will register the three services as:
LOCALHOST\USER NAME. Will this work? Will I have any issues with database
connectivity and CF? Are there any pitfalls to doing this? Obviously, I am
not a networking guru and I need your help!

I hope this makes sense.

Java CFX tag not found

2004-05-24 Thread Greg Bullough
I've seen this issue on the (presently down) Macromedia
forums, with no clear solution.

I have a Java custom tag CFX_ImageSize which I'm
trying to get to work on an MX 6.1 Enterprise
system (Linux)

I have dutifully copied the ImageSize.class file
into /opt/coldfusionmx/cfx/java directory and
then registered the tag into the Java database
paying careful attention to case. I've made sure
that the class that implements the function is
ImageSize. I tried adding that directory path
to the ClassPath in the CF administrator.

I've even rebooted the system.

No luck.

No matter, when I call either CFX_ImageSize or
cfx_ImageSize, I always get the response:

The CFX custom tag CFX_ImageSize was not found in the custom tag database. Please be sure to add custom tags to the database before using them. If you have added your tag to the database then you should check the spelling of the tag within your template to insure that it matches the database entry.

Has anybody had any success with solving this problem? MM is
characteristically silent to the cries of the poor users on
this issue.

Re: oracle unique id or identity

2004-05-24 Thread daniel kessler
Daniel,
Can you create the sequence and then just run a test on it outside the
trigger. In other words, just try this:

SELECT uniqueNum_s.nextval FROM dual;

Does this work?

Hey Deanna,

I get invalid character.I'm using a form which takes the statement and puts it in a CF query.Oh wait.I removed the semi-colon and it executed the statement.So yay! something worked.

Here's an example of a trigger that I use for updates/inserts. On insert, it
auto-increments the id field. On update, it checks to make sure someone
isn't trying to change the primary key and raises an error if they do.

yeah that's what I'm trying to do.
In your example, is flpweb the table name or the datasource?Then how-about cfs_breakfastdata?Is breakfastdataid the column?When I changed this to my own information, I get the error insufficient priveleges which makes me think that I'm using the values in the incorrect places.For the top part of what you gave me, I transposed:

-- dpch is datasource
-- hhp_calendar is the table
-- id is the primary key updated by the sequence

CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER hhp_calendar.trg_hhp_calendar_id
BEFORE INSERTOR UPDATE
ON hhp_calendar.hhp_calendar
REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
FOR EACH ROW
DECLARE
iCounter hhp_calendar.id%TYPE;
cannot_change_counter EXCEPTION;
BEGIN
IF INSERTING THEN
Select uniqueNum_s.NEXTVAL INTO iCounter FROM Dual;
:new.id := iCounter;

Chris,

I've implemented an entiy-relationship schema into a generic search application, sample deployment url,

A tree view of entity-relationship is at beta stage.

btw, what DBMS are you folks are using at UCSB?

Regards,

Tim,

Not sure if you received any hits on this, but I'm trying to do
something similar.I have the same sort of db structure as the
Sitepoint article, but I'm trying to build a select list.I would like
to show all rows, but append the parent titles on to the left of the
title.

For this table:

1	Programming	0
2	Cooking		0
3	Microsoft		1
4	Visual Basic	3
5	Vegetarian	2

The select menu would look like this:

1	Programming
2	Cooking
3	Programming - Microsoft
4	Programming - Microsoft - Visual Basic
5	Cooking - Vegetarian

Any thoughts on how I could modify the Sitepoint algorithm to do
something like this?

Thanks,

It may be overkill (just configure it for a minimal set of capabilities) but

I looked into a bunch of open-source project management and collaboration software recently. PHP-Collab suggested below is definitely one of the best. But for plain simple usage, also look at web-collab. http://webcollab.sourceforge.net/

Of course, both run on PHP, but it does not take much to learn that.

HTML Parser

2004-05-24 Thread jean-marc bottin
Hi,

I would like to build an HTML parser. Does anyone already did it and/or could give me some directions or suggestion.

The goal is to develop a module in an application that can generate form element (ie: a drop down list, a checkbox). Once the form is created, we store it in a WDDX packet and pass it to second module like the htlmarea of intereactivetools.com. Here, the user can shape its form the way he wants. For instance, all the elements of the form that he created previously he puts them in a table of two columns.

>From there we have a “new form” which is shaped based on the user wishes. Here the HTML parser enter into account. If the user has deleted a form element, I need to check that this element is missing.

I think I need to have a copy of the original form and compare it to the new version. And all of this checking will be done by the HTML parser.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jean-Marc

We don't really want to change the primary key when we update, do we?

 ON hhp_calendar.hhp_calendar
 REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
 FOR EACH ROW
 DECLARE
 iCounter hhp_calendar.id%TYPE;
 cannot_change_counter EXCEPTION;

IIRC most of this is optional.

 BEGIN

 IF INSERTING THEN

If we don't define the trigger for updates, we don't need the IF
later on either :)

 Select uniqueNum_s.NEXTVAL INTO iCounter FROM Dual;
 :new.id := iCounter;

No need for a temp var, you can select into new:id directly.

So I suppose we end up with:

CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER hhp_calendar.trg_hhp_calendar_id
BEFORE INSERT ON hhp_calendar.hhp_calendar FOR EACH ROW
BEGIN
SELECT uniqueNum_s.nextval INTO :new.id FROM dual;
END;

RE: 'Select' statement question!

2004-05-24 Thread Pascal Peters
It returns multiple records because you probably have multiple
fullcomments in the log_comments table (you are doing a join!). Do you
really need those? Otherwise drop the table alltogether in your query.

SELECT logs.firstname, logs.lastname, logs.reference, logs.location
FROM logs
WHERE 1 = 1
!--- If searching on logID ---
cfif len(form.ref) gt 0
AND logs.logID = cfqueryparam cfsqltype=CF_SQL_VARCHAR
value=#form.ref#
/cfif
!--- If searching on tested by, test period---
cfif len(form.select_tested) gt 0 and len(form.test) gt 0
cfif (form.select_tested eq 'tested by'
 AND logs.logID IN (
SELECT LogID
FROM log_assets INNER JOIN assets ON log_assets.asst_id =
assets.asst_id
WHERE assets.tested_by LIKE cfqueryparam
cfsqltype=CF_SQL_VARCHAR value=%#form.test#%
		)
cfelseif form.select_tested eq 'test period'
 AND logs.logID IN (
SELECT LogID
FROM log_assets INNER JOIN assets ON log_assets.asst_id =
assets.asst_id
WHERE assets.test_period LIKE cfqueryparam
cfsqltype=CF_SQL_VARCHAR value=%#form.test#%
		)
/cfif
/cfif

If you need it, you can calculate the total on the fly:

cfset total = 0
cfsavecontent variable=tmp
cfoutput group=logID query=searchresults
	cfset total = total + 1
	blah blah blah
/cfoutput
/cfsavecontent
cfoutput
tr
td class=title#variables.total# logs found./td
/tr
#variables.tmp#
/cfoutput

 Many thanks Pascal for that. It still returns multiple
 records. I used the group by tag which stops this from
 happenning, so I don't see multiple records of the same log.
 Its all good. However, I'm displaying the recordcount in the
 search result and it doesn't give you the correct picture of
 the no of records returned and the actual display.

 tr
 cfoutputtd class=title#searchresults.recordcount# logs

Re: oracle unique id or identity

2004-05-24 Thread Deanna Schneider
 I get invalid character.I'm using a form which takes the statement and
puts it in a CF query.Oh wait.I removed the semi-colon and it executed
the statement.So yay! something worked.

That's correct - you can't send the ; in via coldfusion. The jdbc drivers
don't like it.

 In your example, is flpweb the table name or the datasource?Then
how-about cfs_breakfastdata?Is breakfastdataid the column?When I changed
this to my own information, I get the error insufficient priveleges which
makes me think that I'm using the values in the incorrect places.For the
top part of what you gave me, I transposed:

flpweb is not the CF datasource, per se, though in your set up, it might be.
It's actually the oracle user account. For us, our datasources are the
instance (dev/test/production) of Oracle.
The other two you are correct on. However, if you're getting the
insufficient privs error, I would say that you got the general info correct.

Let's take CF out of the picture for a moment. In your Oracle account (via
sqlplus or Toad or whatever tool you use), log in as the user that owns the
table you're going to update.
Run the trigger script.

Now - do you use the same user when you run queries via CF? If not, then you
need to grant that user permission to your hhp_calendar table. You shouldn't
need to grant access to the trigger, as that all happens behind the scenes.
So, in Oracle again, you'd run a command like so:

grant insert,update,select on hhp_calendar to my_cf_user;

Then, just run a normal query in cf and insert a record. Voila.

 -- dpch is datasource
 -- hhp_calendar is the table
 -- id is the primary key updated by the sequence

 CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER hhp_calendar.trg_hhp_calendar_id
 BEFORE INSERTOR UPDATE
 ON hhp_calendar.hhp_calendar
 REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
 FOR EACH ROW
 DECLARE
 iCounter hhp_calendar.id%TYPE;
 cannot_change_counter EXCEPTION;
 BEGIN
 IF INSERTING THEN
 Select uniqueNum_s.NEXTVAL INTO iCounter FROM Dual;
 :new.id := iCounter;

 I would like to build an HTML parser. Does anyone already did it
 and/or could give me some directions or suggestion.

 The goal is to develop a module in an application that can generate
 form element (ie: a drop down list, a checkbox). Once the form is
 created, we store it in a WDDX packet and pass it to second module
 like the htlmarea of intereactivetools.com. Here, the user can shape
 its form the way he wants. For instance, all the elements of the form
 that he created previously he puts them in a table of two columns.

 From there we have a new form which is shaped based on the user
 wishes. Here the HTML parser enter into account. If the user has
 deleted a form element, I need to check that this element is missing.

 I think I need to have a copy of the original form and compare it to
 the new version. And all of this checking will be done by the HTML
 parser.

 Any suggestions?

 Thanks,

 Jean-Marc

  CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER hhp_calendar.trg_hhp_calendar_id
  BEFORE INSERTOR UPDATE

 We don't really want to change the primary key when we update, do we?

No, and the original version of that trigger used the updating portion to
explicitly disallow changing the primary key (Daniel chopped it off in his
version).

  ON hhp_calendar.hhp_calendar
  REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
  FOR EACH ROW
  DECLARE
  iCounter hhp_calendar.id%TYPE;
  cannot_change_counter EXCEPTION;

 IIRC most of this is optional.

true, but it was the example I was given when I was learning how to write
triggers - a bit verbose, but accurate. I should have stripped it down
before sending it. But, I didn't feel like taking the time.

  BEGIN

  IF INSERTING THEN

 If we don't define the trigger for updates, we don't need the IF
 later on either :)

  Select uniqueNum_s.NEXTVAL INTO iCounter FROM Dual;
  :new.id := iCounter;

 No need for a temp var, you can select into new:id directly.

 So I suppose we end up with:

 CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER hhp_calendar.trg_hhp_calendar_id
 BEFORE INSERT ON hhp_calendar.hhp_calendar FOR EACH ROW
 BEGIN
 SELECT uniqueNum_s.nextval INTO :new.id FROM dual;
 END;

I looked into a bunch of open-source project management and

definitely one of the best. But for plain simple usage, also look at
web-collab. http://webcollab.sourceforge.net/

Of course, both run on PHP, but it does not take much to learn that.

I can't afford a new car, should I go and steal one off of a lot?

We can't afford to buy a new house right now, should I break into one so

If you can't afford what you want, then you have 2 options:
1) Work hard until you CAN afford the item
2) Don't get the item

If companies are only hiring Certified CFMX developers and you can't
afford CF Exam Buster, then you should get the manual and read through

RE: CFMX Certification

2004-05-24 Thread Barney Boisvert
Depends on the license.As far as I know, most books don't carry a license
regarding distribution, just reproduction (copyright).It's stealing to
duplicate music from a CD, though I doubt there's a restriction about
passing around.Same with DVDs/videos.Non-open-source software EULAs
usually forbid duplication, and allow you to transfer all your rights to
another (no partial transfers).

So I'd say it's not stealing to borrow a book or CD, as long it's impossible
for the person you're borrowing it from to make use of it while you've got
it (meaning no copies of pages, rips of the songs, etc).

Cheers,

A - Work hard until he can afford it
B - Find alternate means by which to study (manual, online tutorials, etc)
C - See if some people are willing to help him obtain the tool he wants (not

He asked neither A, B, nor C so we decided that maybe we could help with C.

I had previously used the following (without the IsDefined('CFCATCH.TAGCONTEXT')), and found in certain situations CFCATCH.TAGCONTEXT was not defined and threw errors. I'm now going to use the CFCATCH.TAGCONTEXT array, but with IsDefined as shown:

 cfif IsDefined('CFCATCH.TAGCONTEXT')

br#i# #sCurrent[ID]#

Could not find the ColdFusion Component

2004-05-24 Thread Joseph Flanigan
Could not find the ColdFusion Component- one fix I found for MX 61. on W2K

When trying to do CreateObject using Web root object notation like used in
MachII, the error Could not find the ColdFusion Component occurred.To
make a long debug story short, the problem was with anold CF mapping. In
the CF Administrator mappings was a map, / to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot

This machine was upgraded from CF5, gosh knows the origin of the
mapping.A CFMX developer edition does not have this mapping.

The fix is to remove the / mapping.

RE: Going from a Domain to a Workgroup.

2004-05-24 Thread Dave Watts
 Morning all. I'm simplifying a network where I have a CF
 Server and a M$ SQL Server (CF5  M$ SQL Server 2000).
 Currently the network is on a domain.
 Soon it will be on a workgroup. Here's my question:

 Three services are tied to the domain account: Cold Fusion
 Application Server, MSSQLServer and SQL Server Agent. They
 are logged in as: DOMAIN\USER NAME. Typically, I use Windows
 Authentication to connect to SQL Server.

 When I switch to a workgroup, I will register the three services
 as: LOCALHOST\USER NAME. Will this work? Will I have any issues
 with database connectivity and CF? Are there any pitfalls to
 doing this? Obviously, I am not a networking guru and I need
 your help!

Within a workgroup, there's no direct analog to a domain account. So,
assuming that your CF server is on one box, and your SQL Server is on
another box, you may have trouble running CF as an account that you can
grant login rights to within SQL Server.

You can, of course, switch to untrusted connections, in which you use native
SQL logins instead of Windows authentication. Currently, if you plan to
upgrade to CFMX, you may need to do this anyway (the status of trusted
connections via the JDBC drivers that CFMX provides is a bit up in the air
right now - DataDirect 3.3 supports trusted connections, but CFMX doesn't
provide an obvious way to enable them).

RE: Using CFCATCH to display default error messages

2004-05-24 Thread Dave Watts
 I hope they fix the structure error with cfcatch variable
 that I reported about a year ago in the Blackstone, you
 cannot pass the cfcatch structure (for it is a structure) as
 a type = struct to a function, it has to be type = any. I
 think it had other problems with its structure identity as
 well.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you Duplicate it before passing it? In my
experience, this has often been a useful workaround for things like this.

RE: new member: web fetching

 I thought cfhttp would be the correct route, but was
 skeptical after reading the man page for it..

If you want to fetch something from another web server, CFHTTP is the only
built-in mechanism for doing so. If you want to save something you've
fetched as a file on your CF server's local file system, use the PATH and
FILE attributes.

Re: oracle unique id or identity

2004-05-24 Thread daniel kessler
 Daniel chopped it off in his version

yeah since I was getting errors, I was trying to simplify to determine the problem.

flpweb is not the CF datasource, per se, though in your set up, it might be.
It's actually the oracle user account.

ah that makes a world of difference.It's scoped.We don't seem to have users of a table; I don't generally include un/pwd.

I don't have access to the GUI tools here at the college.Our IT has told my partner here that they're insecure so off-limits.Really doesn't help, since I'm a DB novice.

Nonetheless, I got the command to make the trigger work using your original code, which was easy once I realized there was no 'user'.It told me that it executed.I did:
-
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER trg_hhp_calendar_id
BEFORE INSERT
ON hhp_calendar
REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
FOR EACH ROW
DECLARE
iCounter hhp_calendar.id%TYPE;
cannot_change_counter EXCEPTION;
BEGIN
IF INSERTING THEN
Select uniqueNum_s.NEXTVAL INTO iCounter FROM Dual;
:new.id := iCounter;
END IF;

IF UPDATING THEN
IF NOT (:new.id = :old.id) THEN
RAISE cannot_change_counter;
END IF;
END IF;

EXCEPTION
 WHEN cannot_change_counter THEN
 raise_application_error(-2, 'Cannot Change Counter Value');
END;
/

-
btw, it didn't like the BEFORE INSERT  OR UPDATE.I had to delete the OR UPDATE, so I guess I shouldn't have included the IF UPDATE part.oh well, no real harm.

Now the bad part.When I try to insert a new record, I receive an error, [Macromedia][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-04098: trigger 'DPCH.TRG_HHP_CALENDAR_ID' is invalid and failed re-validation.

Also, in the INSERT, I fill in an entry for ID, which is also being filled by the trigger.I just figured that the trigger would toss it.True?The insert looks like:

INSERT INTO HHP_CALENDAR
	(id,header,http,description,dateAdded,event_date,image)
VALUES (6,'#Form.header#','#Form.http#','#Form.description#',#the_date#,#the_event_date#,'#Form.image#')

me.Any suggestions for software would be great!Thank you.

Missing method in CFC- How to handle?

2004-05-24 Thread Nikhil Madani
I'm using cfc's as controllers for my application by setting access=remote and calling the cfc directly from the browser like so-
http://localhost:8500/someApp/someCFC.cfc?method=someFnc

My question to the forum is- if a curious user tries to try typing in some arbitrary method name in the URL, the CFC will throw an application error- The method apos;someMethodapos; could not be found in component,
How can I handle this gracefully and redirect the user to a default method or another page?

Would this mean I will have to put code in my CFC outside of function bodies?...

RE: Compare files in directories?

2004-05-24 Thread Adkins, Randy
About the best one I have found was BeyondCompare. However not free.
But not expensive either. I think there is a trial version.

Subject: Compare files in directories?

Does anyone know of a good, simple, _free_ desktop that will compare 2
directories and all subfiles and show me the differences, if any?I
picked up a project that someone else started on and the development
doesn't match up to the production copy very well at all.All of the
files that I've changed, I have written down so I know what to copy.
However, I don't have anything for the developer who worked on it before
me.Any suggestions for software would be great!Thank you.

Querying Remote Locations?

2004-05-24 Thread Nick Baker
As best I can tell releases later than 5 made significant changes to
CFQUERY. Including accessing DB's on remote servers.

Would appreciate help in converting the following CF 5 and earlier code to
work on MX 6.1

I can't find this covered at
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/coldfusion/6.1/htmldocs/

cfquery name=RemoteData
	datasource=1823_business
	maxrows=160 dbtype=dynamic dbserver=http://www.isbc.com
dbname=business.mdb

		SELECT *
		FROM bus
		WHERE 0=0
		AND City LIKE '%Tulsa%'
/cfquery

Thanks,

Nick
