I am preparing a report for a client on moving his site to VPS from shared
hosting. nbsp; One of the parameters we need to decide about is the
amount of guaranteed RAM we'll need. I know that when it comes to RAM,

You'd need to find out how many VPSs are on the server. You'll hit a
bottleneck when some other VPS on the same hardware node start abusing
resources. 512MB RAM is ok as long as there is room to burst to at
least 1GB. Normally, for the price of a 512GB Windows VPS you could

They feel ready to move up - they're using quite a lot of traffic for
a shared hosting site and have quite a lot of disk space for a shared
hosting site. In my opinion they dont have enough revenue from the
site to justify their own server yet, but I'm doing what i've been
asked.

If you're considering Viruozzo VPS (or... what are they called now..

Do not go for anything below 512 MB. To be honest with you - I wouldn't
even consider going with that, given that the machine is also supposed
to run SQL Server. A reasonable amount of memory for a well-performing
server with SQL Server and CF 8 is 1 GB, rather 2 GB really. It obviously

I've got one machine running on 512MB with MS SQL (dev), MySQL and CF on it,
all runs fine if you fine tune it to the max... Of course it does depend on
