Re: [cisco-voip] Collaboration Edge for Jabber

2014-03-20 Thread Dana Tong
Yep I have a 90 day Advanced Networking key now. Am just waiting for the
customer to be available to test again.

Cheers

Do you know how to obtain a permanent license? How can I prove to someone that
I am entitled to this option for Collaboration Edge?
Ie The customer has maintenance on this hardware. We are running X8.1 and we
are running Collab Edge in Feature Preview.

Cheers
Dana

You need the advanced networking key so you can specify the public IP.

There is no charge for that license when used for collaboration edge (i.e.
Cisco expressway)

Hey all,

Back on this testing for MRA on Collab Edge... I've run up Wireshark on the
computer that I signed in on.

When I establish a call to mobile, or the MCU from the Internet I can see that
my destination address is the PRIVATE IP of the Expressway Edge.
The Expressway E is configured with a 192.168.x.x IP.

I thought there was a way you could configure the VCS E with what it's Public
NAT'd address somewhere? Can anyone recall where I might be able to fix this?

Thanks

I wouldn't call it Collaboration Edge for Jabber as 'Collaboration Edge' is a

Let us know how your testing goes. Without formal documentation/release the

Anyone tested it with VCS 8.1 Release?

Does Jabber functions properly when connected to public internet without VPN?
Any function which is not working at this "preview" release ?

[cisco-voip] CUBE - P Asserted ID passthrough

2014-03-20 Thread Dana Tong
Good morning,

I have a problem with my CUBE and Caller ID.

The ITSP supports P Asserted ID. I see the PAI from CUCM to CUBE but nothing to
the ITSP.
I have set the "voice service voip, sip" to asserted-id pai.
I now see a PAI going to the ITSP but it is "anonymous".

I have asked the customer to set "SIP Privacy to None" on the CUCM trunk and
apply.
Also to set the following options on CUBE.

!
Voice service voip
Sip
  Privacy id
Privacy-policy passthru
privacy-policy send-always
!

If this doesn't work. Do you guys have any advice on how to configure CUBE to
pass through the P Asserted ID that is received from CUCM?

Cheers

The upgrade took about six hours start to finish. Thankfully I had an early
start to my maintenance window! It easily could have been exhausting if I had
to start at 11pm. I had HA set up, six servers total. If you know or know
someone who understands ESX command line, I suggest you involve them. I was
really happy to see the new server spin up as smoothly as it did.

Any idea what MR1 is supposed to address? We found a defect in Productivity
Tools that started in 1.5 that carried over. If you change your password due
to domain security policies, the client sends too many authentication requests
resulting in account lockouts.

How many machines, how long did the bulk of the process take you?

Following up with this thread, our upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0 went well. We went
with the manual deployment, but copied the disk4 VMDK files from the old to
upgraded systems using the CLI in ESXi instead of through vCenter. Overall,
the documentation is accurate. We had an issue with the license file
migration, but a call into TAC remedied it. Good luck to anyone else out there
performing the update in the near future.

hy i mean that from the pdf

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cups/8_0/english/install_upgrade/database/guide/CUPDBSetup/Preparing_database_setup.html

About Security Recommendations for the External Database

•Limiting the Maximum Connections to the
Database

•Default Listener Port

Connection to the External Database

Cisco Unified Presence does not provide a secure TLS/SSL connection to the
external database. We recommend that you consider this security limitation when
you plan your Cisco Unified Presence deployment, and consider the security
recommendations we provide in this topic.

Restriction of User Access to the Database

We strongly recommend that you restrict user access to the external database to
only the particular user and database instance that Cisco Unified Presence
uses. You can restrict user access to the PostgreSQL database in the
pg_hba.conf file located in the /data directory.

Caution Do not configure 'all' for the user and database entries because
potentially this could allow any user access to any database.

When you configure user access to the external database, we also recommend that
you configure password protection for the database access using the 'password'
method.

Note You are required to enter a password for the database user when you
configure a database entry on Cisco Unified Presence.

The following are examples of a secure user access configuration, and a less
secure user access configuration, in the pg_hba.conf file.

Example of a secure configuration:

# TYPE

Hostname -> IP address of my win2K8 server

After several failures, I found a thread that indicated that I should create a

I get the failure to connect error under External Database Status

Failure on connectivity to database “Verify the hostname, username, and

Does it have anything to do with the postgres user account?

I tried to interpret the Cisco doc instructions as best I could

I have created a new database called tcmadb

I have created a new entity under Login Roles called tcuser and gave that user
superadmin rights

I went back to the tcmadb database and made the tcuser the owner of the database

In CUPS, I created the new external database:

  Database name -> tcmadb
  Username -> tcuser
Pasword -> password that I assigned to tcuser when I created it in
the database
Hostname -> IP address of my win2K8 server
  Port Number -> 5432.

After several failures, I found a thread that indicated that I should create a
new user in the Windows domain called tcuser. I did that, and gave that user
domain admin privileges.

I get the failure to connect error under External Database Status

Green check for reachability
Failure on connectivity to database "Verify the hostname, username, and
password are valid"

Does it have anything to do with the postgres user account?

Jeff

Re: [cisco-voip] CUPC - Unable to go into deskphone control mode and unable to chat

2014-03-20 Thread Ryan Huff
I've found that with Cisco, especially Unified Communications, it doesn't
always pay to learn "how it used to be". UC changes so frequently, I've found
that it is better to jump in wherever Cisco is at and start figuring it out
from there.

At this point if say get a TAC case opened if it is production and you have a
contract/support.

I retired my use of CUPC and moved to JFW . CUPC should be working as long
as all the ownership stuff is setup correctly.

If you don't have this key, you have to configure the public address directly
in the vcse interface. NAT will not work.

Just to clarify, normal inbound/ outbound video calls work.

The Expressway does not have the Dual Network Interface option key.

Cheers

Hey all,

Back on this testing for MRA on Collab Edge... I’ve run up Wireshark on the
computer that I signed in on.

When I establish a call to mobile, or the MCU from the Internet I can see that
my destination address is the PRIVATE IP of the Expressway Edge.
The Expressway E is configured with a 192.168.x.x IP.

I thought there was a way you could configure the VCS E with what it’s Public
NAT’d address somewhere? Can anyone recall where I might be able to fix this?

Thanks
Dana

Until VCS 8.1.1 comes out it’s a feature preview (Mobile and Remote Access)
that doesn’t have TAC support. I have several interested customers waiting on
VCS 8.1.1 and a formal Jabber for Windows that maps to it (yeah it’s hidden
feature in 9.6.0) and for Jabber for Mac 10.0 and Jabber for blah to all
support TLS based Jabber solution.

I wouldn’t call it Collaboration Edge for Jabber as ‘Collaboration Edge’ is a
umbrella architecture meaning different things to different people.

Let us know how your testing goes. Without formal documentation/release the
‘caveats’ aren’t fully known yet to everyone. I expect by March/April
everything we know will have changed.

Anyone tested it with VCS 8.1 Release?

Does Jabber functions properly when connected to public internet without VPN?
Any function which is not working at this "preview" release ?
