When you rebooted, it created the necessary link. You could have
just run ldconfig and it more than likely would have solved the
problem. From the man page:

Any idea when a new release can be expected? My 0.95 milter install
has found nothing since upgrading and was quarantining between 8 and
20 weekly (small company) since my first installation.

So I attempted an upgrade to .95rc2 last night and clamd started fine
but the milter complained about --quiet and --max-children.
Since I use about 6 flags, I decided to back rev and see if anyone
else experienced the same.
