Bill, I noted your story about your crew owning a 37 (not a 37+, or 37R, I

about 80 years, and he is still the skipper of Island Bird – he’s in his ‘80’s.

Looks to be the safest too! What is the name for this person's job...Mizzen
Trimmer? I notice that most of the boats delegate this to a lighter type
person, usually female...how does she get out there and does she stay there all
day?

Joe; fascinating photos...thank you ro sharing these; we certainly have
nothing remotely close to that kind of racing around here...; are these boats
used just for racing or are they used for casual sailing etc.; They look to be
high maintenance! How are the races scored?

Mike; thank you for sharing the project photos; (I enjoyed the photos of
Persistence also): what is "Coosa Board" and why did you use it vs other
materials? Thanks again,

Thanks Dave; we just replaced the hatches with new, so I don't think they
reverse... however, I'll check and see; the midship hatch is used for
ventilation only so it isn't much of a issue...

John, I have a rigid vang on my 37...no issues, except that you can't open the
mid cabin Hatch open unless the boom is off center...but we don't do that very
often anyway; I do not race

Are you guys going through an especially muddy area? Or maybe an area where
there is heavy vegetation growth?

Ron, I am replying off-list because I have a question of limited interest; I
noted that there is a 37 in your class... Mark Buckler(?); is he connected to
the list? if not, I'd like to get info about his boat, as I have a 37 also; if
he's amenable, have he email me directly with his contact inf
the Dodger and Bimini, and I do have bottom cleaned ever 2 MO!
Will Probably remove 100? of 5/16 chain and 9.9 LEHR outboard for next PHRF
Race, but really not required we were a good 6 -10 min ahead of those guys on a
7.5 NM course ? Last PHRF we came in first even correct against a 228 rating
Dirk, welcome to the fam...you are right on course in searching the Photo
album and list archives, as for the other questions, everyone else does exactly
that"I have a such-and-such and I need a thigamajig..." and dives right in;
there is a wealth of talent and informatipon on this list and
John, good for you! What have you done in prepping the boat for racing? Do you
strip the canvas-dodger, bimini, etc..? what about anchors and chain?

After reviewing all of the (well thought out) entries on this thread, I am
confused; are the Dyneema, or similar synthetic materials allowed or not
allowed? If allowed, are there certain materials/brands which are preferred?
Some which should be avoided?
What is the priority on a project su
John, exactly how does a Hatch cover "give up the ghost"? I am trying to
picture this in my mind...are you talking about the piece of fiberglass over
the sliding hatch? or a piece of wood (or plexi) that sits in the
companionway...thanks
