I use a block and tackle system, hauled up by the main halyard. I can haul myself up from that in a bosun’s seat. The lower block has a jam cleat so I am able to lock myself in and free my hands. Doing this alone is not the best idea, much better (safer) to have someone below on a winch,

I don't know how you get the line stripper off, but the winch body on the 18s is confined by a spring clip in a groove on the spindle shaft. The clip is like 2 turns of a slinky. You have to pick out the top end with a small screwdriver or a knife, and then work the rest of it off bit by bit
