I have very good results with the ISOTherm (ISOTemp SPA) (e.g.:
https://www.indelwebastomarine.com/int/isotemp/ ). Very good quality and they
are a bit smaller (because they are round, without the box around it). They
also come with the temperature regulator.

But this is a different brand, so may not be a good option for you.

Subject: Stus-List Water Heater?'s

My 4 yr old water heater started leaking as I was filling it for the first time
this year. It is a 6 gal. Seaward [Whale] unit and only connected to the
engine coolant circuit [no A/C on board, just 12 V]

Planning to replace it with the same unit as that “should” be the easiest /
quickest. Two questions for the group:

1] The heater comes in galvanized steel and white epoxy versions. The latter
is more $ but is it worth it from a corrosion or other standpoint? It is not
visible so aesthetics are not important.

2] Found both units on Amazon for less than Defender and other distributors.
Has anyone bought parts / equipment from Amazon Marine? Usually Amazon
delivers when they indicate, but I ordered some ink for a home printer and it
still has not been delivered after 8 weeks.

Thanks,
Brian

Ps – Very sad news about Rob. Amazing how a “simple” fall can cause a cascade
of events. Not much comfort, but at least it was tangentially boating related…

Yes, Rob Ball passed away yesterday morning. I spoke with Pat his wife
yesterday. He had contracted pneumonia from a fall on a dock that broke 4 ribs
and punctured his lung.

I’m always amazed how much credit my Dad got for the look of C boats and Rob
would always credit him for his guidance but Rob certainly came in to his own
and after taking over head designer in 1973 led the design department for 17
years till 1990.
So GHC was head designer of C Yachts Limited for 4 years and Rob for 17. His
contribution to the look and feel of the boats we love is immeasurable.

When I bought Grenadine, her paperwork include a C 30 lines drawing by Rob
Ball dated 1970. I framed it and hung it on the bulkhead above the dinette. He
once told me by email it was the first lines drawing he’d done for the Georges,
and he was very nervous at the time. Bravo Zulu, Mr. Ball.
