Stus-List Fundraising time

As it has happened in the past, I asked our many subscribers to help a little 
bit paying the bills.  The bills keep coming but I don’t get much assistance 
from the Government.

This year is really going to be hard on me – Gladys, my long time partner of 28 
years, passed away on Monday, October 23.  Unfortunately some of the medical 
and funeral expenses will not be covered.  I am not looking for handouts but 
just a little bit of assistance.

Gladys will always be remembered for providing several hundred C Owners with 
custom made burgees.  May she rest in peace.

C 37 (1981) Its marginally reversed transom and springy sheer recalled 
the best of the C racecruisers of the 1970s. It looked like it had 
never been within ten miles of an IOR certificate, never mind measured 
for one. A few years later C would launch its antithesis, the new 38, 
which was actually a few inches shorter than the 37 but a foot wider. It 
was an oddball IOR-ish effort with tumblehome in the topsides, a 
performance-enhancement exercise gone slightly amok. On aesthetics and 
popularity, the 37 won hands down. Doug Hunter Keel/cb model also 
available. Draft (BD): 8.40'/2.56m Draft (BU): 4.60'/1.40m Displacement: 
14725 lbs./ 6679 kgs. Also available with fixed shoal draft keel: 
6.00'/1.83m

I guess I was wrong.  The problems started when I put the cutting board
footer in the emails.

Now we have identified the problem -- it is not with the list but
specifically with how some email programs and providers handle the
emails.  What is disturbing is that one company decides what is best for
you and all the other companies do not see a problem.

Now as an experiment, I am adding a link to the body of this message.

I don't think the link and emails for the cutting boards have anything
to do with our problems.  It is coincidental that both happened around
the same time.

For many years, there was a link at the bottom of all emails and it did
not present a problem.

Take a look at the messages below -- one is from an untrimmed message
and the other from the current email.  Then look at the footer from this
message.  See any differences? Does that give any indication that
Outlook may be altering messages?

Stus-List List The attachments are driving me nuts

Folks I have tried and tried to find the problem.  The IT group that
maintains our list program assure me it is not the problems. The program
only relays what is sent to it and makes no changes.

I tried contacting several email servers whose customers were
experiencing problems, and I might as well talk to the wind.

The problems are very sporadic and are not consistent by any means. I
have several email accounts all with different providers and do not any
problems.  So I cannot relate to the problems.

I am still using Windows Live Mail from Windows Essentials (no longer
available) and Thunderbird Mail.  Both programs access all of my email
accounts and neither has shown any problems.

I don't know what to suggest at this time except for you to experiment
and try a different email app on your smartphone, laptop or desktop
computers.

I keep trying to find the problem and the solution but right now things
do not look good.

I pre-oil the boards before shipping with a cutting board oil from
Amazon.  I believe linseed oil and beeswax are good preservatives. 
Mineral oil okay as long as it it food grade.

No matter what would is used, they should be oiled regularly to prevent
drying out and splitting.

From what I am reading, these problems are not across the board.  Individual

email clients, servers, etc. appear to be the culprits.

The archives for the list, are not showing any 'ghosts'.  Every message has
full content and appears as regular text -- no funny html characters.

I am sure with all the help I am getting that we will conquer.

Stus-List Abnormal list things

I have not been informed by the software people that serious changes have been 
made.  I don’t know why we are getting html characters instead of plain text.

Google (gmail) has been acting strangely this past couple of months.  All 
emails sent from the Photo Album domain to a gmail account get rejected and 
they do not offer any support to correct the problem.

I do some digging to see if I can find any current problems and/or fixes.

I have been overwhelmed at the interest in the cutting boards.  Based on the 
interest, I will be busy for quite some time.

I am finishing up on an internet order page which will make bookkeeping a lot 
easier for me.  Just hang in there for a day or two so that I know it works and 
is simple to use.

As for shipping to Mexico – $23.00 US and buyer will be responsible for any 
duties, etc.

Today, there were 4-5 emails that were rejected.  Reason – “The message is 
larger than the 50 KB maximum size”.  This can happen if you do not trim the 
messages and they just keep getting bigger and bigger.

I will look into the rejection message that the senders should have received.

I have been asked several time to delete a list posting – for whatever reason.  
I cannot do it.

If I go through the proper channels to do so, it will cost $35-50 per email and 
take 2-4 days.

Stus-List Future Zoom Rendezvous

I have received several emails from our subscribers suggesting our rendezvous 
have a specific topic with ‘experts’ attending.  Some suggestions include:
- hydraulic systems
- steering
- ropes and lines
- hardware maintenance
- winterizing
etc, etc.

Sounds like a great idea but I am willing to give it a try, but I need help.  I 
don’t know who the experts are, and what field they are experts in.

So -  if you are knowledgeable in a certain field and are willing to put on 
a simple seminar type rendezvous, please contact me off list at:

I touched on the Water Rat in my shed which I claim was the first production 
fiberglass sailboat in Canada, over 80 built

The Evergreen tank test model sitting next to her.  One of 5, the other known 
one is at Bluffer Park Marina as their bar.  Stored with me on it's way from 
the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club to the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes when they 
are ready to receive her

Then the paperwork.  I explained how Dad kept copies of everything ( and 
sometimes in triplicate ) in Binders.   I've scanned some of the binders and 
will make them available.  Binder one is Pre C 1944 - 1969.  Which actually 
begins in 1929 with Dad's birth announcement, letter from his father about how 
he should give up on his idea of being a marine architect at the age of 12, 
etc.

Google has initiated some nonsense spam filters that has affected a lot of 
members.  According to our provider, they are running all industry standards 
for emails.  But Google does not agree and you have to fight through the 
settings to stop our list emails from going to your spam folder.

If your are still experiencing Gmail problems – check out this site:

Then when you get it fixed, Google has sent out an update that crashes apps on 
your Android Phone.  But they claim to have a fix but you have to install it.
