Another solution--years ago I used a mast boot that had adhesive around the edges (maybe only the ends) of the ~ 8" wide soft white plastic/rubber strip. Don't recall the vendor. Either per the instructions that came with it (or not--too many years ago!), I used LARGE SS hose clamps to secure

Agreed as to sealing the slot, but the nice thing is on ours that the spar manufacturer thoughtfully filled the slot below the boom vang attachment, so it makes for a nice smooth penetration through the deck.  Still wondering about better tape options, though...  Bruce Whitmore (847) 404-5092
