I built a platform for a 5000 btu unit which sits on the
foredeck. I then built a couple of sides - the unit sits
in front of the forehatch and the open hatch with sides
aims the air down into the vee berth and head. Works OK,
dept us cool in the Baltimore heat for a couple of

Randy, our boats are aa bit odd - with a 13.5 foot J
measurement, our spin poles are that long, and they work
well with a 155. Other boats with smaller J measurements
don't get the benefit.

I have seen a few anchor balls around here (St. Michaels,
MD) usually on boats visiting on their way up or down the
ICW - there are two anchorages on the river, so they know
what they are doing. Most don't. Some don't even display
lights at night
