Highlight species include
This morning and again just now we sighted a pair of Greater White -
fronted Goose in the unfrozen part of the north Wash. Park Lake. They
were mixed in with hundreds of Canadians, Mallards, several Northern
Shovelers and 2 American Widgeons. I had thought I saw 1 White -
fronted Goose last
Hi Cobirders,
This morning there was a smalll female American White Pelican beside the
male that has been here, on a sand spit jutting out into the
lake, alone, often without the company of gulls or ducks ususally here, for
several weeks. During the recent seige of snow and low temperatures some
Co birders :
Returning home from the Penrose CBC today , the Long-tailed Ducks (
pair ) and male Barrow's Goldeneye seen yesterday were observed again from
the Sailboard viewpoint around the dam wall this afternoon.

Colorado Field Ornithologists:
Hi cobirders, A beautiful day to go to Red Rocks. About 2:30PM and
over 50o f clear and calm. I sat in my Rollator on the lawn
behind the trading post with the sun off to the left. I looked at
the feeder above the tiny frozen pond surrounded by dirt and a
variety of shrubs.
The Western
Folks- today Boulder held its 68th Christmas Bird Count. Boulder's
first CBC was 24 December 1909, so this is also our 100-year
anniversary count!
As opposed to last year's near zero (about 5 degrees either way)
temperatures, we had a sunny and mild day to be out counting in. The

I agree with Cecile Lee that the winter wren that's recently been hanging
around the dry irrigation ditch at Fountain Creek Nature Center is the eastern
subspecies. I also had excellent looks at it on December 17th and heard it call
briefly. It's quite light from under the chin,
Hi all,
I was in Canon City today, helping out with the Penrose CBC. I saw quite a few
interesting birds, some of them have been around, others are new.
