This morning (2/26) I took a spin around the Monte Vista NWR and found many Sandhill Cranes present, despite the fact that fields in that area and the rest of the San Luis Valley are still covered with snow. My guestimation for cranes at the NWR today was 2,000 or more, plus several hundred on
